Came in a little higher than I thought it would.
Edit: almost exactly where EB called it in the Capped column...

Big man theory in full effect. This is going to be a bargain deal almost immediately.
The biggest gaffe here is term. Yzerman should have pushed this out as far as possible 6-8yrs

I mean, it's not really a comparison between the two.
(threw out the first couple years for each with less than 15 games played)
Mantha Pts/60
0.6 - 0.6 - 0.72 - 0.88 - clear progression
Anderson Pts/60
0.37 - 0.48 - 0.57 - 0.15 - clear progression, but not nearly as good and a MAJOR hiccup last year
The Mantha contract is better by MILES here.

Solid contract.
These should be the best four seasons of his career.
When 2024 rolls in, Mantha will be heading towards his age30 birthday.
Big bodies like him don't usually (!!) do well on the other side of 30.
I think the 4 year term is just fine.
Ya the more I think about it the more I'm loving this deal.
He said they landed on 4 because Larkin is up in 3 so Stevie didn't want them both up in the same year.
^This is true.
I think GMs find it simpler to stagger contracts - keeps teammates from feeling comparable and creating lockerroom tension or roster inflexibility!
