Default Team Canada's invitees to the WJC camp

Im not going to lie, I dont recognize any of the goalie names but the skaters listed should make this a filthy team to play against. And it doesn't even include guys like Lafreniere here. Interesting to see Shane Wright's name there. I wonder if he can make a big enough impression to actually make this squad. That's a lot of solid forward competition.

    nice!

there is few guys on list that will probably play in NHL next year, but this maybe nice training camp and they would only miss game or 2...assuming NHL starts on the 1st of January.

    No invite for Lafreniere?
With NHL starting later, I'd think they'd be trying to get him back.

If Lafreniere wants to participate, he gets the top line wing position without question based on his performance last year. No need for him to attend camp...

either rangers want him to attend full training camp or he got his slot secured and he does not to need to go to this.

on the other hand, you would think anybody would be jumping at any kind of ice time atm. Specially someone from Quebec where i believe ice access is quite restricted atm

No evidence at all but just assuming that the Rangers have probably let Hockey Canada know that Lafreniere will not be made available to the team. If I were the Rangers, I would see little use for him to play in this tournament unless the NHL start date is delayed well beyond January.

Not surprised about Wright being included here. Its always tough for a 16 year old to make the team but he absolutely has a shot to do so as the 13th forward.

Its a strong group of forwards and defencemen here. The questions (as always) are going to be in goal as they are a very young bunch and there really has been no stars to date.

Curious to see how the Q players look in comparison to the rest as they have been able to play meaningful hockey.

i honestly think thats most beneficial, i know he wont have much time on the ice with new teammates but WJC will get him in much better game shape than training camp would.

Blackhawks have notified that Dach will be loaned to team Canada. I'm surprised about this.

    Per Dreger on Twitter:
Chicago Blackhawks will loan Kirby Dach to Team Canada for the World Junior Championship. He will return to the Blackhawks after the WJC.

again, at most he missies 2-3 games? comes back in better game shape than rest of his teammates...

and if NHL pushes start to 15th ..this is really great for those young guys.

Kirby Dach has been added to Canada's World Junior selection camp roster. #WorldJuniors
    Steven Ellis @StevenEllisTHN

Dach will be returned to Chicago if training camp begins prior to the start of the tournament.

But that's a big get for Team Canada.
    Darren Dreger @DarrenDreger

To clarify, if the NHL starts before the WJC, Dach would leave Team Canada to return to the Hawks.
    Steven Ellis @StevenEllisTHN

Status of Alexis Lafreniere on Team Canada:

Tom Renney said discussions have been ongoing with the New York Rangers. Team is open-minded about Lafreniere playing for Canada but Hockey Canada will circle back in 10 days about Lafreniere's #WorldJuniors status.

This team is going to be good regardless, but adding two top line Fs would be massive.
