I'm not sure either kid plays in 2020 and I'd draft Byfield only because I feel he's the best long term asset.
If you were in need of a center and you had the choice between the two, who would you pick? Byfield or Rossi?
Things that I need to take into consideration:
-Prefer a player that will be able to play in the 2020 season. In contention now so this is important.
-Who will put up more fantasy points considering overall points, hits and block shots 0.1per, this year?
-Who puts up more points in the future?
Right now I am leaning toward Rossi because I feel he has the best chance to play in 2020. Do you agree? Is passing on Byfield for potential point production this year wise or will Byfield widely outperform Rossi in the many years to come?
Thanks in advance for the Dobber community wise words.

You set the terms, so if you say that the most important factor is 2020-21 production, then Rossi is more likely to be the better choice. However, it is probably near unanimous that Byfield has more value than Rossi. So the question is whether you can turn Byfield into something more useful. On the whole, I'd choose Byfield and try to trade him for something more useful than Rossi will be this year.
20-21 be damned. I draft Byfield.
let's be real... if you're chances of winning a championship hing on either player's production in 20-21 season - I don't like your chances.
Your best bet would be to trade pick for an established player or bank the high end asset for future runs.

Don't even consider one year...I know Rossi plays tough, but its alot different to be tough in the NHL with bigger stronger men. Rossi is a very good player; Byfield is a much better package though. Don't overthink this or you will regret it.
I own both,so not biased . Byfield every day of the week

Dont overthink it based on who might play this year. Byfield is the choice 10 times out of 10 my friend.
I agree with everything said here. If they play you’re probably talking low production. I’d draft byfield and trade him if you think that slot he or Rossi would occupy is the key to you winning this year.
Absolutely zero chance I’d leave byfield on the board in a draft. Unanimous number 2 prospect this year minimum.
i would not sorry about help next year from rookies, If Rossi plays and gets 40 points (per 82) that would be absolute ceiling and hard to imagine. And even then with condense schedule you will probably have him on your bench for half or more of those points...In your set up Byfield has quite a bit higher upside and i would not want to loose that for few more points for one year.
As someone said, if you really want production next year you trade the pick ...that 2nd overall has lots of value...im sure you can land a very good player for it.
or draft Byfield, wait till he dominates at WJC and then flip him for a player to help you now...i just dont see any scenario where drafting Rossi over Byfiled is a good idea.

Yep, agree with the consensus here. Draft Byfield and then trade him later in the season for something more valuable than Rossi if you need the push. Otherwise, hold the player with the highest upside from the 2020 draft.... that's Byfield.
Let's be clear, Byfield has more growing/developing to do than everybody's buddy Lafreniere, but if he pans out the pure points upside is higher.
Byfield is the choice. He’s the more valuable asset so if you’re in win-now mode you can always trade him to a rebuilding team for an established player to put you over the top.
Might want to hang onto him though
I’m taking Byfield here.
All these effective arguments have certainly changed my mind in terms of possibly drafting Rossi over Byfield. Now I have to hope he falls to me so I can scoop him up for the future. Thanks everyone.
