I think Miller and Anderson could still play and will get deals if they want to. I could see them being late signings if they're still eager - after an injury early in the year or something.

agreed, they've both put up decent numbers in limited rolls (Miller) on poor teams (both). Still gas in those tanks.

    Stl. should sign Anderson IMO.

Husso is 25 - you think he should still be a full time AHL starter?

In general terms no. On a team that believes they are legit Stanley Cup contenders - a veteran presence like Anderson goes a lot further than an unproven 25yr old rookie that has struggled in the AHL for large periods of time.

    Demko - Holtby vs. DiPietro
    Samsonov - Lundqvist vs. Copley

As a GM of a Cup favorite team... would you rather Binnington & Husso or Binnington & Anderson?

Yes but Husso was Binnington prior to the Cinderella run/cup win, no? Ala Murray/Fleury?

Time will tell, but running Husso as the back up is really rolling the dice in the event Binnington suffers any lengthy injury

    Or turns into a pumpkin...
I don't think in either case Anderson is the answer.

I don't think Anderson wants to be the answer either. That said, them signing or trading for a vet-back up will not surprise me

The reports that came out after Allen was traded were that the AHL staff/coaches are confident that Husso is ready for the NHL. Right or wrong the Blues are ready to put their eggs in that basket.

Will Husso be able to push Binnington like Allen did? Is he ready?
Those are questions Blues general manager Doug Armstrong asked his staff.
“We had a conference call,” Armstrong said earlier this month. “I talked to the American Hockey League general manager (Kevin McDonald), development coaches … and everyone feels that he’s ready for the opportunity.”
This week, The Athletic reached out to McDonald and asked why he gave Husso a thumbs-up, and the Blues’ assistant GM since 2009 said, simply, “his readiness.”
“I just think his entire body of work has been leading to this,” McDonald said. “Ville came up (with the Chicago Wolves) and played in a three-goalie system with Binnington and (Pheonix Copley). Then we had a share in San Antonio with (Spencer Martin). He’s been in Chicago and San Antonio long enough. If you look, he’s had good numbers every year, except 2018-19 when he wasn’t healthy, so he’s given us a consistent body of work. He’s paid his dues, and he’s ready to show that he can play at the next level.”
Thats just one snippet but its a fairly long article full of positive anecdotes in favour of Husso.

I'm surprised Ken Holland didn't bring in Howard.

I think they all retire, but they'll wait for quite some time to see if maybe an injury opens up and opportunity for them.

I was convinced that Chicago was waiting for a bargain starter to fall into their lap (Griess), and/or had something worked out with Vegas to take on Fleury's contract (with a pick/prospect sweetener).

Miller won't sign until it is know what the season will look like. If it involves a COVID bubble, forcing him to be away from his family for the entire season - he plans to call it quits.

Anderson/Howard are completely finished IMO. Done. Forced retirement.
