Just heartbreaking, not sure how well known he was outside of Edmonton. He will be talked about and remembered there forever though.
Absolutely gutted to hear this news today... one of the more unique personalities not just in Edmonton but well known through out the NHL and CFL:

does anyone remember the commercial from the 80's with Gretz and Joey where they get Joey to call out ''Taxi''

Definitely an NHL legend and also a CFL one apparently. I dont pay much attention to the CFL but I had no idea he was that connected to the Eskimos that heavily.
None the less, RIP.

He worked year round. All winter with the Oilers and all summer with the Eskimos. I'm sure those close to him forced Joey to take a vacation now and again. Edmonton talk radio today is full of guests close to Joey regaling many stories, I'll have to take the evening to listen to some of the podcasts later. Apparently Joey deteriorated quickly from dementia and a broken hip from a few months ago, he was a shell of himself at the end. Very sad to hear.
I'm not an Oiler fan, and living in Ontario most of their games were too late for me, but seeing him singing the national anthem always made me smile. The amount of lives this guy touched is likely insane. Sad day. RIP

Rest In Peace Joey. I always remember seeing your smiling face in so many Oiler documentaries. Such a passion for he’s team! Inspirational.
An incredible write up from Sam Gagner and what Joey Moss meant to him and the other Oilers players.

Wow. That was a fantastic write up by Gagner! What a well respected young man. He’s been a part of so many Oiler documentaries and tributes. That will help him live on. Extremely moving!
Thanks for sharing that Axe!
