As per highly respected Neue Zürcher Zeitung, Joe Thornton has signed with #HCDavos, and will play this weekend with the 31-time Swiss champs. According to
@NZZSport JT will not count against the import quota as he carries a Swiss passport. Nothing official yet from @HCDavos_off.

Gotta give it to Joe for wanting to play hockey. The guy never takes time off. If for whatever reason he can't play in the NHL, he jets off to Switzerland. Despite making millions in his career, he obviously just love's the game still. Good for him.

No. His Swiss passport is through wife's citizenship , I imagine they have a 2nd home there.

That and he needs to keep his old joints in constant game shape or when/if the NHL resumes. Can't afford a long layoff at his age.

true...I'm an old mother f'er myself, and when I take a few days off from exercise and then get back to it, I feel it. And I'm not a professional hockey player.

Having passports from both Canada & Switzerland sounds like it'd be very conducive for travel.
