Two capable backups in Toronto. It has been a long time since the Leafs could say that.

I'm not sure they can say that. Dell's been okay two of the last 3 years, but brutal the other year.

Dell will look just fine with a Marlies jersey on. Unless this preceded a surprising Andersen move

It's not like SJS was the pinnacle of defense the last 2 yrs. But neither has Toronto.

He's a great option to eat games in the Marlies, and an option if Campbell is hurt or poops the bed. Bad option as a full time NHLer, but that's exactly what 3rd string goalies who aren't the potential franchise goalie are.

Solid signing. These depth NHL goalies have 0 market right now.

Toronto's D will be greatly improved. Both Brodie and Bogosion are pretty significant upgrades to NHL level talent where there wasn't any last season. Hopefully Muzzin is back to full health. I think there's reason for optimism for the D.

It was more the way to compare stats with what Dell was doing the last couple of years to what, lets say Campbell did the last yr with the Leafs.

Leafs defense is better on paper.

i been watching a lot of this guy and i think Lehtonen will turn some heads...really like what he brings...i agree in general D is different by quite a margin...we will see if its better I been saying this for long time, but i think biggest problem in TO is the system and forwards not supporting enough...hopefully im wrong.

Good point. The system or the difficulty in getting all these young offensive minded wunderkinds to back check. I am looking forward to seeing how the Leafs look this year.

Apparently Dell's deal is right at the threshold point of a penalty free emergency recall. AKA, if Andersen/Campbell are hurt/sick, they can recall Dell with no cap hit to the team. Great option if the league doesnt have expanded rosters.

I also wonder if Dell is an escape hatch for cap reasons. They waive Campbell, he clears presumably and they save some money with Dell up to warm the bench.

As a Bolts fan I think you might setting the expectations to high on Bogo, he was OK during the cup run but anything near spetacular and he played alongside Hedman. We're talking about a guy who was bought out by Buffalo just some months ago.

Yeah - I don't follow the Leafs really closely, and i certainly don't think the guy is another Morgan Reilly or Jake Muzzin, but at least he appears to be an NHL defenseman, which could not be said of a couple of D on the Leafs last season.
