    Default Puljujarvi for 10th Overall?

I have the 2nd and 10th overall picks in our upcoming draft (league in sig). I will be taking Byfield at 2 and recently received an offer of Jesse Puljujarvi for the 10th overall pick. There will be some solid players at 10 but they will be years away from being fantasy relevant and Jesse will be playing next year and potentially with McDavid and/or Leon so leaning towards accepting the offer.

    Thoughts?

I'd probably do that. Take a chance. I'm not sold on Puljujarvi but he's going to get a good shot this year and your 10th overall might not even end up in the NHL.

Yeah that sounds good. I might have taken Askarov at 10 but as you were saying the potential for Puljujarvi with McDavid/Draisatil is very tempting still, and Askarov is at least 3 years away. I'd go for the trade.

#10 is borderline for me. Assuming that Drysdale and Askarov are drafted in the top 9, and the top 7 forwards are gone, you're moving Puljujarvi for someone like Quinn or Jarvis, which I would do. On the other hand, in our draft Quinn went #8 which left Holtz available at #10 which I would not do. I think I would still take the chance given Puljujarvi has shown promise when he plays and he has a shot at Edmonton's top 6.

If I knew Askarov would be available at 10 I would hold onto the pick for sure but given the value of goalies in our league there is zero chance he'll be there at 10. I am contemplating trying to trade up in order to nab Askarov (especially since I have Saros) so that's in the back of my mind as well. In terms of competing in the next 3 years though Jesse gives me the most value which is why I'm leaning on accepting the offer.

problem with taking Askarov is that if he takes same route as many European goalies, by the time he is in NHL, your league may not be around...i personally think he will be in NHL in 2 years but not many share this view point. Pulj maybe scoring 80 points a season at that point...i think he is that talented. Last year he was taking 7.5 shots per game on average...even if you suck you collect points that way...

Agree with this. For me there's a top 9 in a 2020 rookie draft, and if each of them is gone, I'd pick Puljujarvi. If one of them remains, then I'd prefer the rookie pick.

Valid points. The league has been around for 10 years so I don't see it disbanding but it's always a possibility. I can also always make the deal and then try and trade for Askarov later on.

He is being offered Pulj for his 10th pick - not the other way around.

I understand that. I meant "you" in the generic sense, as in "one"

So you wouldn't do this trade if you were the other team so the OP should do the trade? Is that right?
