Not ideal for owners of either MAF or Lehner if you were hoping the former would get a new gig or the latter would get an easy road to workhorse status.
I think I will probably still keep Lehner as he's DeBoer's guy clearly (and has the contract), but not the way I wanted it to turn out thats for sure.
Welcome news if you owned a goalie who might have ended up somehow in a tandem with MAF (Jarry?)
I suppose there is still lots of time to get a trade done...but this just doesnt seem like a contract a lot of teams can take right now.

I think there's still lots of time for a deal to happen for MAF. The bigger question is who ends up being Lehner's backup? Maybe a goalie they trade for in a MAF deal? Maybe one of Grubauer or Francouz comes over from the Avalanche?

I do not get why they'd do this. Fleury is not happy there - all the sword in the back nonsense shows that. He won't be the guy unless Lehner gets hurt. Maybe they think he's their Seattle exposure? Is that really worth $7 mil? Do everyone involved a favor and trade the guy already.

He would not have any say in getting exposed to expansion. He has a 10 team NTC, not an NMC. I agree Seattle probably would not take him, but he checks all the boxes for Vegas to expose him and be legal.
