Default Ontario Hockey League - remove bodychecking?

The Ontario Hockey League will have to try to remove physical contact, including bodychecking, if it's to have a 2020-21 season.
This would be interesting to see for the OHL to actually implement?

How much does that help skill prospects, especially those in their draft year.

How much will this hinder gritty prospects?

The far bigger risk is on the bench sitting next to other players for more extended periods of time. They should ban benches first before they ban body contact.

Totally. This is idiotic. If I'm a young player I immediately sue to get out of my contract so I can go to league that will actually play hockey.

Minor hockey associations in Ontario have a planned restart this month without bodychecking, fighting, or faceoffs. Teams must also be kept in 50-player bubbles, with play limited to 3-on-3 or 4-on-4 to help skaters remain physically distant on the bench.
Minor hockey associations are even going to eliminate faceoffs.

Yeah... I had to google the quote/source.
But seems like it is coming from the provincial government.
What kind of idiots are trying to justify their jobs here.

Yes, this is pretty idiotic "I'm going to seem like I'm doing something" half-think.
Like... what about faceoffs, you've got three faces in close proximity... like 45 times per game?
What about skirmishes in front of the net after?
What about all the guys that take a swig of water and then spit it back? (All those guys gonna remember not to do that!)

    This is just stupid.
Find a way to do testing/tracing at a cheaper cost.
At least that applies across the board - with numbers/results that are actually Yes/No.

Saying "Let's Remove Checking" is like somebody saying "People can't get wet anymore so nobody's allowed to go swimming or outside when it's raining".
Um, water.... it's kind of everywhere.
But I guess we've put a rule up against the obvious wetting... so we good.
    ...
Just like breathing/coughing/sneezing... it doesn't just happen during body-checking.
    My effing lord. (Shaking head)

If EA Sports made good games I would suggest doing E-Sports OHL. VR maybe?

I feel for the government being pulled in two directions at once "shutdown" vs. "re-open" but this is just dumb.

Either it is safe to play the game of hockey, with all that entails: bodychecking, close proximity of players, contact, (the no face-offs things I hate less then the no bodychecking honestly) or it is not safe.
If it's not safe to play hockey then listen to your medical experts and cancel hockey until it is safe to do so.
    These half-way measures are dumb.

Statistically more likely to die in a car accident...shut it all down! Humanity! Won't someone think of the children. Just have all the players wear a mask and full clear plastic face shield, problem solved. Do I have to come up with all the solutions!?

Ontario's conservative government has exercised better-judgement and backed off several of their half-baked plans after outcry and indignation from the public since coming to power.

This is not one of those times

No bodychecking will be allowed in upcoming OHL season
