    Default Teuvo Teravainen Trade (REP)

    Hey all,

I'm in the third year of my rebuild and Teravainen just became available. Thought he'd be a solid addition to the team. The other GM is looking for a 1st (21st), a top forward, and then another couple of prospects. He really likes Logan Brown, and then here's the list of other prospects I could move. Is this too expensive/is now not the time to be spending prospects?

Any input is more appreciated. Team in signature.

If you're in a rebuild why trade prospects and a pick for Teravainen?

Been rebuilding for a while now, and got a good core: Horvat, Zegras, the Hughes Brothers, etc, didn't know if it was time to move out a couple of guys to add a legit scorer and take a step forward or just sit tight and keep accumulating prospects.

Can you compete or are you rebuilding. Don't be like an NHL GM and try to do both. If you want to compete this year than go for it. If you're stocking the cupboard then don't.

I can't compete this season. Like I finished bottom five this year. I'm still quite bad and feel like I will be for another season or two. But at 26, he felt like someone who could help when I was good. You think I should just keep drafting high and stocking up then?

Thank you, that really helped. I want't sure if it was time to kickstart the rebuild a little or just keep on plodding and adding kids so you've helped. I gave you rep.

If anyone else has any thoughts I'd love to hear.

Couple of interesting names here that I bolded, can I pick your brain on why you'd move them?

Sidenote, how far off do you think my window is?

Is the 1st (21st) pick a pick in an incoming rookie draft? Like a Hendrix Lapierre/Connor Zary type?

If that's the case, then I would definitely pursue a deal. Teravainen just turned 26. When is your rebuild going to end? If it is going to end in 6-7 years, then Teravainen will not be useful to you. If before, then he probably will. In any case, if someone is offering a 4 for 1 deal where you get the proven 1 and at least three of the assets you need to deal are unproven with limited upside, you have to do that. It clears out roster space for you to add players and permits you to trade Teravainen for a single stellar prospect as opposed to having several middling ones. Of the players you list above, only a couple of them strike me as potentially being above-average producers.

My only hesitation is what is meant by "a top forward." As long as that isn't wildly out of line, then I'd pursue it and try to turn Teravainen into a single great prospect as opposed to a few Linus Soderstroms.

Yeah, it's 21st this year in a rookie draft. It's looking like 1st, Logan Brown, Jake Bean and then one more from the list. I don't really know when my rebuild is ending, I'm probably two years away from competing (my team is still really young/still in the minors) and who knows how far away from actually contending. I don't want it to be 6-7 years of course, but I don't know the full timeline yet.

If you could, I'd move away from Bean, as I think he's among the best, if not the best, person on your list. I'd happily deal Brown, the number of 6'6" skaters who are big point producers is a small list.

If your that bad in a league that big, with most of your team in the minors, I'd pass.

If you were adding a 23 year old player, that'd be more likely to work.

21st overall + LOgan Brown and others for Teuvo? Yea you make that trade every day of the week- dont overthink it. If you had a top ten than sure stockpile away but a good and thorugh rebuild is not as simple as just blow it up for pucks- thats rudimentary and kind of dumb. Teuvo is an above avergare talent who is already borderline elite and certainly has that upside. Make that trade before it gets pulled- adding another elite asset to that core would be brilliant- Logan Brown is so utterly replacable- whats an Eberle cost in your league?

Always go for the elite talent....

Hes good for 3-6 years easy- you dont plan past three years in a rebuild. If you are its not a rebuild your donating to your local fantasy hockey charitty....

    This^

To be clear Id move Bean but hes the first asset youve mentioned that gives me pause- the 23rd or whatever is an easy move, Brown is easy move- who else you looking at?
