Maybe they can announce it in front of the Ed Snider mural that he's on.

I'd be fine with him as a 4th liner/grit guy, but I'm not sure if they have the cap space.

    My bold prediction:
The Red Wings land TWO of Hall/Pietrangelo/Krug.

Oh man I hope not. I don't think they have anywhere near the pieces in place to make those kinds of moves. Wait another year or two and then make that move.

Haha. Hey don't get me wrong. The 01 offseason was one of my favorite memories as Wings' fan. But now is not the time to sign all of the free agents.

    I disagree.
I think this IS the time.
They will have no better cap space than this year and next year.
They've just cleared a TON of cap space.
Next year they clear a TON more cap space. ([email protected], Filpp@3, [email protected], Nemeth@3, Bernier@3)

NHL windows for teams rising is happening quick.
Look at the jumps made by teams like VAN & NYI this year.
They make those jumps because they were able to add/re-sign good players (JT Miller/Myers, Lee/Varly/Pageau) to compliment some players on ELCs (Quinn/EP, Barzal/Pulock/Toews).
That's the making of a good squad.

    Detroit can do this too.
You can't just say "I'll wait".
Also - there'll be some interest from both Hall & Krug who have family ties to the So.Ont/Michigan areas, respectively.

I think Yzerman makes a play for them, in order: Krug, Hall, AP.
Krug... I think.. is about 40%, Hall 15%, AP probably 5%.

Seider is NHL-ready, Zadina is going to be solid.
Detroit is WAY closer than people know.
They are going to improve a lot simply by cutting some old/slow fat.
If they get two of Krug/Hall/AP, promote Seider... I think they'll be fringe playoff team THIS year.

Some teams in the East are really aging: PIT, WAS.
TOR has major cap crunch, NYI will feel it, as will TB.
The East is ripe for the picking in the near future.

    My Bold Predictions!!

    - Nylander traded for Dumba at some point

    - Raanta to Chicago (no guess on return)

    - Not bold but Hall to Colorado, Barrie to Edmonton and Krug to Detroit

    - Is it bold to say AP stays? I think OEL stays too.

    - The goalies are tough- Holtby to minny, I would have said Markstrom to SJ but thats not happening- Markstrom to Chicago if my Raanta thing fails and Im gonna say Carolina if it doesnt.

    - My goalie prayer today is that Budfalo stands pat- I think Ullmark is the man and invested across most of my leagues on that supposition...

    - I hate this move but I cant shake Buffalo botching things again and signing Hoffman- lol!

    - Does Dadonov go to NJ with Gusev- dont they have history? I could be off there...

    - My pick(s) for most underrated signings will be Granlund and Craig Smith. I think both will do well wherever they go and will sign for reasonable deals. I think Granlund could sign in Winnipeg or Vegas and have a lot of success at each place. If Smith signed in Ottawa he could really blow up in the short term.
EDIT: With Stastny likely traded to Winnipeg I think Vegas lands Granlund and hes yet another fantastic reclamation project for them that succeeds. Ugh I hate Stastny BACK to winnipeg- yuck. Good for LV though this franchise quicky becoming one of my favorits- they seem like theyre in on everything lol!!

It IS bold to say AP stays. I'll give you cred for that!!!
I say "no chance" AP stays. (None = 2% or less)
I don't think he's been appreciated enough in STL.
His next contract - and he knows it - secures his ENTIRE future.
He deserves a 7yr x $9m contract... and I think he gets it... but not from STL.
The entire tone/vibe I get out of comments from AP & STL suggests that that relationship is done.

    Like those predictions!!!

I kind of agree with this- which goalie do they knab? Markstrom would be a coup...
