I doubt it's even considered
I am looking to make a big move to acquire McDavid. My current F crop is:
C: Matthews, Pettersson, Barkov, Barzal, Stepan
LW: Laine, Gaudreau, Teravainen, Mantha, Bjorkstrand, Kaprizov
RW: Pastrnak, Marner, A Svechnikov, Boeser, Ehlers
Categories: G, A, PTS, PPG, PPA, PPP, SHG, SHP, Pim, Shots, Hits, Blocks, FOW
Does an offer like Barkov + Gaudreau get it done?
I doubt it's even considered
The first question I would have is McDavid even available for a trade? Is the McDavid owner shopping him or are you just thinking that you'd like to own him and going to see if you can get him?

If I own McDavid I'm asking for at least Pettersson added to your initial offer, but I would be more interested in a Matthews and Pastrnak offer.

He hasn’t shopped him. I just want to acquire him. It’s a deep league. 20 team, 40 rostered players per team.

I don’t think I’d give Matthews and Pastrnak
I don't think I would either. Just looking at what it would take from the other side.

If he isn't shopping him, and you are just cold-calling on him, I'd be expecting an overpayment price tag from the McDavid owner.
My advice to you is to reach out to the McDavid owner and see if he's someone he'd entertain moving or not. That would be my first connection before I'd even waste your time making an offer. If he says no, then chances are you arent' getting him even if you offer Matthews and Pastrnak. Who knows. I just know that when a GM says they really arent interested in moving someone, that usually means if you want him, you're going to overpay for him to make me move him.

I traded him this year to get some more depth in my multiact league. I won regular season last 4 years with 2 championships and 1 runner up and crap this year in the playoffs. So team is competitive but i was loosing lots of depth by trying to constantly win.
Trade was: My McDavid for M. Tkachuk, Fiala, Makar......i then flipped Tkachuk and got Kaprizov, 13th overall, Foudy, N. Robertson and then turned the first into Wheeler.
I did trade few added pieces but i was not keeping them anyhow, guy like fabree, dazingle...
So Trade in the end worked out to be McDavid for Makar, Fiala, Wheeler, Kaprizov, N.Robertson and Foudy
this should give you an idea...i was also second guessing myself on this for a while...McDavid has lots of value.

in a 20 team league i wouldnt touch your roster, it has to be a top team, and you have had to make some pretty one sided deals to get a team that deep
He has a fairly old team. His studs are Crosby, Malkin, Wheeler, Backstrom. He also has guys like Pavelski, Dadonov, Radulov. So his team is aging. I figure offer 2 younger players and that might get things going. What about a Barkov + Laine offer?
Yeah I do have one of the top teams. It took awhile to build the roster and get younger guys just hitting their prime.
well then i say again (JMO of course) why destroy your depth for one guy? Mcdavid is great no doubt but when you have that many stars on your team why give up 2 or 3 ? unless you could get someone older coming back to keep the depth (ie wheeler)
Haha I mean good point. I just wanted to see what kind of offer would be a slam dunk for him. But if it would be a Matthews + Pasta that’s a big no.
If you wanted my McDavid and started your offer without Matthews Pettersson Svechnikov Pastrnak I simply would not reply. Can't be greedy man..Originally Posted by [email protected]
If I owned McDavid in your league, I wouldn't even consider dealing him to you unless you were offering at least two of Pettersson, Matthews, Patrnak, and Marner. Even then, I'd have to think about it because when getting an extra player in a trade, you often have to drop another player to make space on the roster.
In essence the deal is like this:
McDavd + dropped player
for
Matthews + Pettersson (for example)
Whether or not I accept would depend on the value of the dropped player, and considering how good McDavid is, the dropped player only needs 'average' value for me to pass on the offer.
