The Leafs look to stock up on D again in hopes of finding that top pairing defenseman and select Kaiden Guhle of the Prince Albert Raiders.

After spending the last few drafts upgrading their defense and centre positions, the Habs will likely be looking to draft a winger at this spot unless there's a player who falls tremendously.

With that said, the Habs select Rodion Amirov.

At #18, with their second pick of the first round, the Devils select Hendrix Lapierre. While the real Devils might select a defenseman here, I'd like to see them go with BPA, and while Lapierre is a center, arguably their strongest position, I think he's a worthy gamble at this point in the draft.

The Calgary Flames are thrilled that he fell into our laps and are pleased to select the native of Prince Albert, Saskatchewan, from the Brandon Wheat Kings of the WHL, Braden Schneider.

The flames get a right shot dmen to add to their young d corps that already includes Valimaki and Hanifin on the left, and now Andersson and Schneider on the right.

At #20, the Devils select Connor Zary. Even though they have already taken two forwards in the first round, they can't pass up on this high skilled, high energy all-purpose forward. As I said earlier, they can load up on defensemen next year.

With the 21st pick, the Columbus Blue Jackets select C Brendan Brisson. The team doesn't have many forward prospects and I think his style would fit well.

With the 22nd pick, the New York Rangers are pleased to select, from Nuremberg, Germany, Lukas Reichel.

The Rangers probably don't need another winger but when they have the guy at 13 on their list and he's still available at 22, you take him.

The Philadelphia Flyers are pleased to select with the 23rd pick, Jan Mysak, Forward from Litvinov in the Czech Republic.

Mysak was higher rated at the start of the year, and he was playing on a bad hometown team in the Extraliga. His NHL position is uncertain, but he has good skating, and plays on the penalty kill as well as the power-play.

If the NHL draft had fans live streaming, we'd hear a a bunch of boos and some who? from fan draft parties around the area.

Colorado have a strong prospect pool both on offense and defense, they go with upside.

Pietrangelo is most likely out of STL. The last time they drafted a D in the first round was back in 2012...8 Years ago... They go with the high upside guy by the name of William Wallinder.

With our second selection of the 1st round of the 2020 NHL Entry Draft, the Anaheim Ducks are ecstatic to stop the slide of, from Lulea HF in the SHL:

Noel Gunler - RW

Why? This is a perfect blend of BPA and team need. Perhaps one of the most dynamic goal scorers in the draft, the Anaheim Ducks get a player consistently ranked in the top 20 to play alongside one of the best prospect setup men out there in Trevor Zegras. Expect a lot of goals scored by Gunler with the primary apple provided by Zegras.

Ottawa Senators, with their 3rd first round pick, choose Ridley Grieg. Another brawler would be good for Brady Tkachuk to develop a bit more maturity to NOT go the ways of Tom Wilson...?
