Default OEL, worth a pick up in salary cap leagues?

I know he’s on a huge contract...8,25M per year but this guy produced even if he was on a weak offensive squad....with all the rumors around him, especially with the Oilers, is he a guy to target on this type of leagues?

50 points seasons with Arizona could mean much more with a better offensive team....thoughts?

Generally no but if you have the cap to spare and its a free pickup then it can be worth it. He provides solid blocks Nad "ok" hits. You can count on 40ish points with season to season upside from there if Arizona ever opens up their offense. Id say hes overpaid by 2-3 million but if youre literally not using the space there are worse ways to spend it.

Would I target him though? No not especially. The only guy Im targetting based on a hypothetical move is Hall to Colorado and Rannta to Chi-town :P

Maybe. If I'm reading this right, this is a league where the following apply:

    1. Free movement between active & bench roster.
    2. Bench salaries don't apply, only active spots consume cap.
    3. You can freely cut him at any time.

If that's true, I'd add him, cut Lundqvist, and hope he gets dealt somewhere things will improve.

as someone whos' owned him several times throughout his career in redraft leagues, I will say that this past season owning him was tough and he essentially lost his PP1 duties to Chychrun. If he is going to struggle to hit 40 points, his cap hit is not worth it whatsoever.

I'm somewhat interested in OEL in my cap league (points-only like yours), but only if he is dealt to another team.

Man - I can't believe he's only 29. I forgot he was only 19 when he played in 48 games in 10-11. I felt like he should be 35 - he's been in the league 10 years already. You should totally add him as long as you can indeed stash him on the bench and not have his salary count against your cap. Lundqvist or even Subban would be good drops. Subban's cost to value ratio is terrible and I don't see it getting any better.

In points only leagues, for D, im generally looking at 6-7 Points per 1mil. So at minimum he needs to be around 50 points to be worth it and i dont think he will be. Having said that, if you have room...pick him up and drop if he does nto produce. He does have skill, just been vanished last few years.

So 50 pts at $8 mil is 6.25 pts/mil production. Last season PK Subban was at 2 pts/mil. The year before that in Nashville it was 3.4 pts/mil. By Belexus' standards PK should have been gone a long time ago. I agree.

12 teams, 3 dmen per team...that means there are 36 dmen in this league. I don't think OEL is anywhere close to a top 36 dman in the NHL, especially given his salary.

In my salary cap league, we have 6 dmen per team with 12 teams. That's the only reason I'm considering OEL, and even then only if he is dealt to another team. If he stays with Arizona (which is seeming more unlikely the more I read about the situation), I don't think he has a chance at 50+ pts. He might even struggle to score over 40 in Arizona.

he was 49th best D in points only last year... so yeah i dont and few behind him have much better salary.... again only way you pick him up if you think he is around 50 otherwise you can find cheaper option

36 ACTIVE D. Looks like the OP has 4 or 5 D on the bench. If everyone has a similar bench there are roughly 90 D rostered in this league. I think it's highly unlikely he stays in Arizona so he's easily worth an add and he's damn sure better to roster than Subban or Lundqvist.
