    Default Pulock Vs Pionk

Comparing these guys, both are 25, pretty similar TOI except Pionk gets 50% more PP than Pulock. I get that 5 on 5 points are valuable and maybe indicate more raw offensive talent but I'm struggling to understand why Dobbers rankings have Pulock 10 spots ahead of Pionk. Pulock has a slightly longer track record and some pedigree compared to Pionk being undrafted. But Pionk has shown he can put up points and run a PP. Pulock may get more PP over the next year or two and could improve his points again, but Pionk was at a 50+ point pace this year. I guess I thought they'd be closer, can anyone shed some insight into why (presumably) Pulock is projected to be significantly better than Pionk going forward?
    Thanks

I'm taking Pionk points only for sure. Even multi cat, it's closer but still Pionk.

Ask me again before the start of the season because I think A LOT is going to change for both players.

Right now, I agree that Pionk should be ranked higher than Pulock. The situation in Long Island is murky, with Pulock, Toews, and Leddy all getting PP time. In Winnipeg, Pionk is the main option. That said, I'm fairly certain Winnipeg is going to bring in at least one, and more likely two, dmen this off-season. *If* they get someone like Dumba or Gostisbehere (two names I've heard linked to the Jets), then Pionk's PP time could dwindle.

In Long Island, I could see Leddy move on, giving Pulock a bit more PP time. I still think he will split with Toews, so he will never get optimal PP time, but I think it is very likely he will have more opportunity, and thereby score more points, than Pionk next season. I also think there is a chance Pulock is traded. The Islands have some cap issues, especially with Barzal's pending contract. It is possible that with Pulock also due for a new contract, the Islanders may decide to trade him to ensure they have enough cap space to sign Barzal.

Im going to guess that upside comes into play in the rankings (but thats an assumption on my part). Dobber is probably taking Pulock's potential upside as a factor in ranking him higher.

    Good question none the less.
