Default Time to Say Bye Bye Price?

16 team, 32 man roster keeper league.

    G=2, A=1, +/-=.5, PIM=.2, W= 4, L= -1, SO= 5.

I did a mini rebuild starting 2 years ago, prob another season before I'm in the top again. Price is my aging vet (33) at this point, rest of team is 28ish or younger. Offered this:

    My Price
    70th overall at this draft

    for
    C. Ingram
    17th overall at this draft
    3rd rd next year
    1st in 2024

    Yea or nay?

Nay - see what Price does next season after this solid playoff performance. Picks aren't high enough to warrant. If he starts off hot then he will be worth more in a trade.
Also would be nice to see your roster - to determine how far out you are.

Just looking at the pieces in this deal: Ingram is probably two years away. Bump that 2024 1st rd to a 2022 1st. Is there another prospect you could add in place of 3rd next year?

My preference would be to keep Price but if you're set on the rebuild I think you need some better assets coming back. He is still valuable and should fetch a better youth return.

Price had the 5th most WINS last year and was 5th in SHUTOUTS. The players say that he is the best goalie in the league. If you are hell bent on trading Price then you better get a much better return than 4 magic beans. I don't like this deal. Not at all. Maybe Ingram becomes an NHL goalie one day and one (or all three) of the picks works out for you, but you are taking a huge gamble. One that does not match the reward.

Unless this is a cap league I don't see the value here. This is the kind of deal rebuilders make to stay in rebuilds forever.

^^ you should listen to Eric on this one. He is bang on right.

Make no mistake, I'm all for you trading Price. Go right ahead. But you need to get back a return that is actual NHL talent. In a large 16 team, 32 man keeper league Price is a top tier goalie. These players are hard to acquire. If someone wants Price (and package Primeau with him), make that GM play for it with a player(s) that are already in the NHL. You have a good looking team and don't need more 'futures'. Your team needs actual talent to take the next step. Good luck.

You might as well just cut Price if that's what you are going to trade him for. You are acquiring ZERO assets that will help you in any of the next 2 seasons and most likely 3 seasons.

If you're dealing Price you should be getting, at a minimum, a goalie among the below PLUS more, depending on the goalie coming back.

    Shestyorkin
    Samsonov
    Sorokin
    Saros
Spencer Knight (with a lot of other stuff coming back)
Some other goalie starting with a letter other than S

Another vote for keeping Price. Price is still a great goalie, Montreal is heading in the right direction, and, right or wrong, Montreal has $10.5m committed to him for each of the next 6 years. Their financial commitment ensures he will get lots of games, and your league structure favours a goalie who gets lots of starts. There are very few bonafide #1 goalies in the league who aren't in a 1A/B situation. Price is one of those few. So unless a much better trade comes along, I would hold onto him.
    12 Teams, 23 Players (max 3 goalies), H2H, Keep 15 (max 2 goalies)
    2C, 2RW, 2LW, 2F, 1U, 4D, 2G, 8 Bench, 2 IR+
    G, A, +/-, PIM, PPP, HIT, BLK, W, SV, SV%, SHO

    Keepers:
C - Matthews, Eichel, Hughes (LW), Pettersson
LW - Kaprizov, Svechnikov (RW), Guentzel, Fiala, Keller (RW)
RW - Marner, Meier (LW), Laine(C/LW), Jarvis (C)
D - Dahlin, Sergachev, Theodore, Klingberg, Werenski, Peeke, Cernak
    G - Shesterkin, Sorokin, Merzlikins
    IR - Pacioretty, Ristolainen

    2023 Draft Picks: 1,2,3,4,5,6,7,8

Another person saying keep Price. You are looking at ages, and thinking way too much about it.

If you're taking prospects & futures, get them closer to the NHL, or IN the NHL, and higher end.

even a vet fantasy player like myself can still learn a thing or two .

I gave up on MAF and Rinne a few years ago and they came back and had few more really good seasons after I thought they were on decline

    hold on to Price

Like many in fantasy hockey, you are too focused on the age and not the performance. Goalies like Price play at a high level well into their 30s. This trade is a bad return. If you are going to trade Price, at least get a viable, usable goalie in return with those picks. Ingram is not that goalie and even if you draft one with the pics you acquire here, how long (if ever) will they become fantasy relevant.

Not a good trade for you going forward.

Not that this would change my mind or opinion on this trade but who are your other goalies?
10 Team, Points Only, Cash League

25 Man Roster (no position), top 20 point getters count at end of month
Keep 20/25 at seasons end, Cut 5 to FA for redrafting
    Goalie points W=2pt L=-1pt SHO=2pt

Stamkos, Tavares, Eichel, Mercer, JRobertson, RThomas, Kucherov, Nugent-Hopkins, Tuch, KConnor, Necas, Point, Konecny, SJarvis, Cozenz, Morrissey, Bouchard, Josi, Novak, Tolvanen, Peterka, Brink

    G- Vasilevskiy, Sorokin, Oettinger

I concur. Assets are WAY too far out from being anything for you.

If your other goalies were vasy and hellebuyck I still wouldn’t make this trade. Don’t know the inns and outs of your league but I’d wager You’ll be looking to flip those assets for something else before they ever help you.

If you’re intent on dealing him, I’d be looking for more immediate returns
