I'd keep Hamilton and Chabot. Both are studs and don't have to compete for the ice time like Karlsson (Burns) and Ellis (Josi) do.
10 Team, Points Only, Cash League

25 Man Roster (no position), top 20 point getters count at end of month
Keep 20/25 at seasons end, Cut 5 to FA for redrafting
    Goalie points W=2pt L=-1pt SHO=2pt

Stamkos, Tavares, Eichel, Mercer, JRobertson, RThomas, Kucherov, Nugent-Hopkins, Tuch, KConnor, Necas, Point, Konecny, SJarvis, Cozenz, Morrissey, Bouchard, Josi, Novak, Tolvanen, Peterka, Brink

Ok, ok, so there has to be a dissenting vote somewhere. Hamilton is a career 40-point scorer - yes, with good peripherals. But Eric Karlsson’s WORST years look like Hamilton’s career average. Sure, he’s had injuries. Sure, he’s been held back by 62-year-old (sic) Brett Burns, but the SJS commitment to EK65 only needs him to show up healthy, and he’s the clear #1. The chance I’d take on him (in a non-cap league), could pay off with a fantasy championship.

    Karlsson and Chabot.

12-team, H2H. Keep 12, but drop 2 of top four skaters, and also 2 of next six, then five more (from end-of-year rankings). One GK max.

    Karlsson and Chabot.

just cannot look past the fact it's been four seasons since a full campaign and he has clearly lost a step after the injuries.

To not keep Hamilton would be a huge mistake. And chabot as the 2nd keep is clear cut for me too.

This is why there are fantasy forums.

4 seasons since a full campaign? 0.85 PPG over 257 games even over that time period. 0.78 PPG struggling with SJS. Hamilton’s last 4 years, 0.59 PPG. The “issue” is obvious, tho - can EK65 return healthy? Cuz if so, he’s a beast.

oof, tough decision! I´d probably go Chabot and Hamilton but Karlsson is close. You can't keep all three of them and leave one of the forwards instead?

Thanks everyone. I've been leaning towards Hamilton and Chabot, but struggling with excluding Karlsson. Health is obviously the big concern. But part of me thinks that the extended break might be just what he needs to get back to full health and make me regret my decision haha. So I wanted to check my reasoning.

I could potentially keep 3 D, but historically, it's much easier in our league to draft reasonable D and/or pick them up on the waiver wire (usually guys who contribute to peripheral cats), than it is to draft or pick up forwards. We have an expansion draft this year, reducing the number of keepers (13). Teams in my league tend to hold onto their impact/scoring Fs, so I usually have to prioritize keeping them over D. To keep a 3rd D, I'd likely have to drop at least two of Larkin, Barzal, Meier, and Fiala.

Having said that, I will have some time to make trades prior to our keep deadline, so I may be able to move one out for other assets. Hamilton and/or Chabot will likely get the most interest and best return, as most GMs seem skeptical about Karlsson's health moving forward. But we'll see how it goes!

If most GMs won't trade for Karlsson, that's all the more reason why you should let him go for redraft. If they don't want to trade for them, it's less likely they'll look to draft them too.

Good point. But I am 100% confident he would go to one of the two expansion teams. They're going to need top end talent, and although he carries risk, he would likely be the "biggest name" available in their expansion draft, by a long shot.

Try and trade one of Chabot, Karlsson and Hamilton for an upgrade with a forward and keep then keep the other 2.
Don't waste the asset of Karlsson - one of your expansion teams will pick him then you lose him for nothing.

    First off, not Ellis.

Secondly, since this is an expansion scenario, I'd really want to trade one of these guys. Shop them and find out who gives you the best return that doesn't require you to have to deal with further keeper issues.

I worry about Karlsson's +/- a little, I don't worry about Hamilton ( should be decent) or Chabot ( should be bad). Hamilton has the best peripherals. Karlsson has the most upside, Chabot is the youngest. I let offers you get inform your decision.
