I would not pay that much for Necas. Sure he's on his ELC for another year but he was only playing 13 minutes per game in the playoffs. There's no room for him to get more ice time in Carolina any time soon.

Aho - signed for 4 more years
Staal - signed for 3 more years
Teravainen - signed for 4 more years
Niederreiter - signed for 2 more years
Trocheck - signed for 2 more years
Svechnikov - one more year of his ELC than a new contract

There's not much ice time for Necas available so I would expect him to be in the 40 point range in an 82 game season for another year or two.

Didn't he burn a year with the 7 games played in the 2018- 2019 season?

Regardless.... everyone makes good points. I actually see his ice time only going up a bit, but probably playing on the 2nd line instead of the 3rd. Can see him easily hitting 50 pts IMO.

Can I get more with those picks? Maybe baby. It's definitely not an instant accept in my eyes. Still a gamble that he progresses into a top player in a couple of seasons. His shooting % was around 18 me thinks.

It was his rookie season and he played at a 40ish point place with 3rd liners and limited icetime. Pretty damn good.

Tested the market, but GMs are either rebuilding and holding onto the strong young players or the GMs are competeing and want the ELC production. Anyways, I took the deal with no regrets.
