Debrincat value deal?

I have a trade talk ongoing that involves the following:

My 6th overall in the draft and Denisenko

for

Debrincat

This a 16 team dynasty league with 23 man rosters and deep farm rosters. Goals and goaltending are weighted fairly heavily. I got close last season but was defeated by a string of injuries. My core forward roster includes;

Rantanen
Marner
Miller
Forsberg
Keller
Drouin

with potential prospects:

Denisenko
Dellandrea
Boldy
Bokk
Veleno
Elvenes
Puistola
Dorofeyev

My defense consists of:

Karlsson
Trouba
Chychrun
Vatanen
Edler
Grzelcyk

with P. Myers, Gawanke, and Rafferty the only reasonable chance of adding to that this season.

Goaltending is: The entire CBJ pipeline (no really, I have them all) and the AZ tandem along with a solid pipeline of Tarasov, Vehvilainen, Kahkonen, Kochetkov, Skarek.

The question(s) is, although this deal seems like decent value (I'd like some thoughts on that) is it the right move, and am I close enough to commit to something like that? I'm kinda leaning towards conserving assets to improve the defense first, but I have alot of holes up front and I'm not sure if I should wait on the prospects or try to improve immediately before I have to pay for the guys I have.

FYI, this is a cap league but it's very unconventionally based on fantasy points, I'm fine on cap space.

I don't hate it. You aren't a favorite this year I assume; and while you are giving up youth, the Cat is still young himself. You will have him for a long time.You are getting a sure fire stud for 2 maybes. I'd probably do it even though I'm really bullish on the 2020 draft.

You're right, I'm not a favorite, that's the part that concerns me. But I've been snakebiten by various circumstances for 3 years in a row and I'm feeling pressure to do something. Ftr, this franchise has never won a playoff game, I took over when it was in rebuild mode and with very little assets and this is where I'm at now. So the crux of the question is; Do I need to be a little more patient, or is this fine as a step forward?

DebrinCat is 22/23; its not like you are trading for a 29, let alone 33 year old. That's nothing to worry about age wise. You improve your team guaranteed vs 2 players who may never play for you. I think you are hoping one turns out as good as DeBrincat; but odds are none are.

Personally, I'd try to swap in one of your prospects for the 6th overall pick, not sure if you tried that OR if he'd even entertain it.

He has expressed interest in Boldy. So that is a possibility.

I agree with this. A chance to get Holtz/Raymond/Rossi is a bit hard to swallow. Debrincat didnt exactly inspire a whole lot of confidence this year

I'd move Boldy and even another small piece rather than the 6th.
