Tough choice, wow. I think pts-wise it’s a toss up: Fiala was on fire toward the end this season and he’s got Kaprizov coming to join him, so there’s even more reason to think he won’t just continue, but take another step. Debrincat had a down year but everything I’ve read says he was just unlucky and that he screams for a rebound next year, and in that you’re maybe getting a 40-goal scorer, which is rare. Add in his near-guaranteed SOG numbers too.

Flip of a coin for me. Personally I like Debrincat a bit better because the only cat for me that really gives a definitive edge to either side is SOG.

It's close, but I'm going DeBricat even as a big fan of Fiala. People love the upside potential (even though Fiala is older, he is a breakout favorite) and I think Fiala will get 30g and 70 points this year and be seen as a great success. Problem is, DeBrincat will probably get more, without as much attention, and has much more to work with than just pretty much Kaprizov.

Fiala for me, I think he continues right where he left off last season - he is in a great spot to lead MIN in scoring. Cat regressed significantly last year (53 pt pace over 82). I see him bouncing back to ~60. Rather roll the dice on Fiala.

Fiala. Similar offensive output. Fiala was a bit buried in Nashville so a look at the last three years favors DeBrincat but it’s not objective. Fiala is going to get more ice time going forward as he was on fire when the season ended and in the qualifying round. They are very close but I like Fiala’s ceiling better and he gets PIMs, which DeBrincat doesn’t. DeBrincat hits a little more but it’s close. Fiala for me.

I'd say Debrincat. Down year but could see him potting at least 25-30 next season if all goes well. I also have more faith in his linemates at this time than I do with Fiala playing with Kaprizov. Although I think Kap has the talent to do very well, he's still unproven at the NHL level, whereas Cat will be playing with established players. I'm probably wrong, and kind of hope I am as a Kaprizov owner, but I just see more talent around Debrincat than Fiala at this time.

I think it is pretty close. I take Fiala by a smidge though. He is the better player in my opinion and he is not as dependent on top line mates.
