Gurianov for me, top line winger upside plus hes been playing PP1 in playoffs, I think Kot is 2nd line upside (especially with the emergence of Suzuki) and strikes me as the quarterback for PP2 kinda guy.
Moving forward in a roto keeper league (goals, assists, points, +/-, pims, ppg, ppa)
Which player would you rather have for the next 2-3 years? Jasperi Kotkaniemi (C/LW) or Denis Gurianov (LW/RW)?
Both looked great in the playoffs.
Any opinions or insight on either player would be helpful.
Thanks!

If no cap is involved, Gurianov.
If a cap is involved, depending on the situation, I would still take Gurianov. But he is an RFA and his performance could lead to a few more $$$, where as Kotkaniemi still has one more year on his ELC, which could sway things if there is a cap situation.
In a deeper multi cat I go Kotkaniemi...but in these settings, Gurianov.
Its close but I'd lean Kotkaniemi.
Gurianov has clearly found another gear these playoffs but I can't see it being anywhere close to sustainable. 0.93 pt/g, shooting 23%, on 14 minutes a game is silly when he only put up a 0.45 pt/g in the regular season. He's playing 2nd line and pp2 right now but spent most of the back half of the regular season on the 3rd line.
With how MTL goes for a very balanced line-up, there's not a whole big difference between being the 1C vs 2C there. And while Suzuki had the better season, I'm not sure if that will stay true going forward. I would not be shocked if Kotkaniemi gets a solid look with whatever their top line ends up being. Imo Kotkaniemi is more skilled and has a slightly better opportunity in the short term.

Not sure when you need to decide but I'd wait and see what happens during the off season. Either player could see a significant shift in quality of line mates. Particularly JK.

I think both kids are headed in the right direction. I'd probably take Gurianov here but I do like JKs turnaround this year.
