Points only I would take Dahlin hands down. Banger league with shots, hits and pm's? Give me the younger Tkachuk

Wow. You’re a Sabres optimist?? I’d have taken Brady every day. Ottawa first line and power play are being tailored for him. Dahlin seems Ekblad-like to me. I can see Brandon Montour, Colin Miller, Jokiharju, and even Ristolainen taking some of Dahlin’s offense away from him. No one challenging BTkachuk.

I think Dahlin is going to be a top 10-15 D in points only leagues for years to come. He has amazing poise and vision at only 20 years old. I prefer him in point only to B Tkachuk. Tkachuk's level of production from forwards in points only will be lucky to crack top 100. His numbers will get better as Ottawa's pipeline improves but I see around a 55-60 point max for next few seasons.

Another vote for Dahlin here. I think any comparison between ekblad and him will be put in the rearview by the end of next year, if it isnt already. As far as ceiling he is absolutely in the makar/Hughes range as both are older than he is and he has a couple years of nhl development on them both. His ceiling points only is probably similar to tkachuk. As a defenseman, that is super rare
i dont think you need to be an optimist here..if Tkachuk outscores Dahlin by 20 points Dahlin is still preferred target here since he is a D. And i dont think that will ever happen in next 10 years period.
based on your logic Eichel should not be drafted anywhere near the top yet he goes top 5-7 in most if not all drafts.

no..their ceiling is higher so in general no...but i may think hard about makar over marner, not other 2.
Tkuchak is amazing at what he does but he wont be PPG guy on consistent basis...Dahlin will be elite D where Tkachuk is an ok F in point only leagues imo. All 3 skaters you mentioned are elite at their positions and so is Makar.

Fair enough, just trying to press you on the 20 point differential. Seems like kind of an arbitrary number to come up with in valuing dmen over forwards, but maybe there is more behind it.
Also with Brady and Rasmus being the exact same age, seems that some people are willing to make a big leap of faith in projecting Dahlin as a superstar, but not taking a similar leap with Tkachuk, who has not had the luxury of playing with very gifted linemates to this point.
I would take Dahlin over B. Tkachuk. I believe that Dahlin will be the consistently scoring 60+ points in the not so distant future. Those type of defensemen do not come along every day. There are other guys out there who could replace Tkachuk.

Dahlin for me. Also, any Dman who can top 70 a season in a points only league means they are the ceiling for that position. In the example above comparing a 74 point Makar and a 94 point Mathews, you have to ask yourself how many other Dmen can hit 74 versus how many other forwards can hit 94. I can think of at least 20 forwards, but only a few other Dmen that meet this criteria. And that means give me the 74 point Dman 99 times out of 100 versus a 94 point forward.

Dahlin and it's not even remotely close. He is such a special talent. Brady is one of my fav new players in the league but I don't see him really ever hitting 80.
Another vote for Rasmus Dahlin.
Definitely Dahlin
