Here's @DallasStars forward Jason Dickinson, who took a knee during the anthems in the round-robin, on the NHL players' decision not to join NBA and MLB in protests tonight. Speaking from the heart.

Exactly... damned if you do and damned if you don't. - In regards to Seguin and him taking a knee during the anthem. They try to show support and receive backlash.... can people not be happy that they showed support? I know I was proud of them for doing that.

This is a great view from Dickinson. And he does make a great point.

NHL commissioner Gary Bettman and NHLPA Exec Dir, Don Fehr spoke yesterday and it’s expected there will be a number of discussions between the NHL/NHLPA and players today. Unlikely the NHL changes it’s position unless driven by players.

I think it's a joke just people making loud noises to feel better about themselves or follow the popular narrative.

Here's the facts Jacob Blake was a criminal who had sexual assault charges and a warrant out for his arrest. He resisted arrest and whether he was going back to his vehicle to check on his kids or not, had knife on the driver side floor boards. Why was he driving around with a knife with his kids in the vehicle in the first place? The cop who shot him, clearly shouldn't be a cop. I think instead of him being racist he was just spooked and panicked.

Instead of boycotting the games, donate your check for the games played to help the cause by raising the communities where this kind of violence takes place and for better training of police officers on how to handle these situations.

Yes!! And if a player like Lebron does it strategically and challenges other players to match a percentage of their salary and to challenge the owners...

Lebron has already done a lot, he knows if he gets 30 Owners on notice, that's more money than the NBA players could ever fork up.

Steve Ballmer is likely with the LAL and LAC in whatever they do, and he's got major pull in the NBA now.

The players shouldn't have to donate their paychecks for better training of police officers. Police forces across America already get a lot of money from the government to do that exact thing.

Players are doing other things to make changes. But don't ask for them to give money to the same cops who are shooting black people.

What is the agenda then? What are they ultimately trying to do? Is it de fund the police or weed out the bad apples? That takes resources, that takes training. People need to go down more then an inch to see what actually causes these things to occur. Criminal activity is a result of poverty, money in the community helps that. The cop in this case looked like he lacked training on an mental and physical level to properly handle the situation, that requires resources, that requires training.

Chris Weber said it perfectly be articulate, be smart about this.

The discussion you're looking for is prolly not best directed in this thread, but as a simple answer is...

Defunding the police doesn't mean you remove all funding. You re-allocate the funding that would be used to buy the tanks and move it to the training. Why does every city in the states seems to be able to pull military level equipment within minutes?

So the money you say that needs to be pulled together for the training is already in the system, it just needs re-allocated. And having police officers tackle incidents that they aren't trained for (mental health issues) don't get called right away. People get triggered seeing a police officer in uniform escalating the issue in some incidences.

Again not the proper place for a full discussion, but the answer you're looking for is the money is already in the system for all this, just re-allocate it.

This is the sad reality. Actor's/Actresses are the majority of those people.

Kenosha city council approved a budget of $86 million for this year. $30 million of that was just police. The police already have the resources to train these officers. Plus, I'm assuming police officers went to some type of school or academy, which also should have been training these officers. NBA players shouldn't need to give money to train officers to stop shooting unarmed black people.

For anyone concerned that the NHL did not participate in the boycotts... the Boston Bruins boycotted playing hockey last night.
