    Default Shedding cap space

    Hey,

Points only CAP League in sig.

Bit of cap issues when it comes to my keepers for next season. Need to find a way to keep Eichel as pointed out by a few on these forums. Eichel would take Debrincat's place.... so $3,6M more in cap space. Would take me up to over $65M out of an $81,5M cap for 12 players of a 20 player roster... too much.

Looking at my bolded keepers in signature, who would you try to trade to shave off a few million dollars to keep Eichel?

The only player I can think of would be Theodore who has a $5,2M salary (but I also think he can be a great asset for quite a while at that price). Unless I get a good cheap D as a return, would replace with Boqvist who is highly touted but hasn't done much yet.

Any ideas? Do you just keep Eichel instead of Debrincat and worry about the rest later? Do you try to make a trade (who?)?

Any and all opinions would be greatly appreciated.

    Thanks!

I would keep Eichel, and figure out the rest later. There should always be a trade market for a guy like Eichel, and since it's a seven team league, there should be no problem finding guys on the cheap to make the cap work (guys like Rust from this year).

Keep Eichel over Debrincat and worry about the rest later.

I would be putting John Carlson on the trade block.

Commented in the other thread, but generally my thinking is that you keep Eichel and figure things out. Carlson makes for a good trade option - does Eichel also have a market?

Keep eichel and trade Crosby , the rest of your core is a great age , Crosby should be able to get you a deql like a suzicki and boquist type deal , also I’d keep jarry over hronek personally

My thought too, look at trading Crosby as Eichel has better long term value. Can afford to take a little loss on Crosby to save some Cap space.

glad others suggesting putting Crosby on the table, that sheds a lot of dough and can net you good young cheaper assets

Put Crosby on market. Only one GM showing interest so far but I think most of them are waiting after playoffs to get back into it.

Told other GM I'd like Svech or Makar to be part of discussion and he backed away. He does have the 2nd oa pick next draft (any unprotected players), so I guess I could inquire about that with a plus? Would rather keep him and deal with cap issues than to sell too low.

Second overall would be a good starting point. More realistic than going for Makar or Svech.

2nd oa + ... another draft pick or a player? You can see his team here : https://www.lepool.com/pooler/335020

player option would have to be better than DeBrincat...

Any chance you could land Zibs and 2nd? Unlikely I guess.

If you took only draft picks who would you be keeping instead?

That's a no for Zibs. He picked him 1st round last year and is quite happy about that.

Only possibility I see is replacing Crosby with DeBrincat. Quite a big risk for not much cap relief. The 2nd oa would land me Fiala and with my 7th oa I would probably take Saros (I love me some cheap goalies) or RNH or something like that.
