Hopefully everything is ok with his family. Good thing they have Halak.
EDIT...Ooops, sorry, Didn't see this info posted earlier on the Bruins/Herks playoff theread.
Got this off the RotoWire. If this is true unbelievable.
"Opts out of playoffs
August 15, 2020
Rask has opted out of the remainder of the playoffs.
ANALYSIS
Rask had previously expressed that games in the bubble didn't really feel like playoff hockey to him due to the lack of fans, and the statement he released Saturday cited a desire to be with his family as the driving force behind his decision to opt out, but this news still comes as a shock. Jaroslav Halak will take over as the Bruins' No. 1 netminder the rest of the way.
Hopefully everything is ok with his family. Good thing they have Halak.
Wow. I don't think the Bruins fans needed more reason to get on Rask....but this will likely do it.
Hope all is well though for sure.
I think it's just that he (apparently) has newborn at home. He was iffy about joining from the start it seems.
Hopefully all is well and he is at peace with the decision.
For the Bruins, Halak isn't too much of a drop, and it shouldn't affect them as much as a missing Pastrnak would.

(No I don't have a hockey problem...)
I feel like there is a lot to this story we don't know about - good or bad. I remember reading somewhere a few months ago that he was even considering retirement soon. All the best to him and his family.

After listening to Mike Milbury's comments prior to the BOS/CAR game today, I wonder if this means Rask is done in Boston? Yes, there were (are?) some rumours out there about Rask potentially retiring, but I wonder if the team tries to trade Rask in part because of what fans are going to do next year...oh wait, IF fans are allowed back to games. I can't imagine Rask's decision will be embraced by Boston fans.
Some of the responses on twitter are absolutely ridiculous. I would imagine the idiots saying this stuff don’t have children of their own. Rich or poor, family is always first.
Good for Rask, the bubble isnt for everyone. Easy to criticize if one doesnt have much responsibility in their lives, a newborn + 2 young children would be tough for anyone.
Hes got a ring already and a pile of money. I think hell come back next year but I doubt he signs another deal after his contract expires.
One day I will quit fantasy hockey, today is not that day.
Maybe this is why.....team couldn't handle it.

It’s hard to imagine he’ll be back as Boston’s starter in ‘20-‘21. Teammates say all the right things (like the comments of this thread), but playing in front of him may be different. I truly hope there’s no illness with his wife or newborn, ..... but zero positive tests in almost 2 weeks within the bubbles?? Teammates are human, and they do remember.

Rask is already on record as saying he might retire once his deal is up (only one year left).
According to Don Sweeney, Rask and his family are all healthy. He has three children, including a 3 month old. Apparently, his mental state wasn't great away from his family and he just wasn't into it.
As a Bruins fan, I completely respect this decision. Tough time to be away from family especially with a newborn at home. It sucks but Halak has the potential to get hot and help the Bruins get back to the final.
I feel bad for Rask though as people will criticize this decision. Hopefully he doesn’t get ran out of Boston. Would love to see him get a Cup as a starter too. 2013 and 2019 were so close for him and he deserves it for what he’s done in Boston in his career
F’ing moron meat head Milburry doesn’t respect his decision. What a douche.
