Default Mike Green may be retiring

Boy, this guy's career ended on a whimper, and only played 2 games with the Oilers:

That's really too bad. He started out shot out of a cannon, but the drop off was pretty steep and unrelenting.

Is this official or just what Elliotte Friedman has heard? There's been no announcement from either the Oilers or Mike Green himself that I can find.

If he was planning on retiring one would have thought he would have tried for the cup with Edmonton.

I thought the reason for him opting out was to ensure he stayed healthy to sign a contract this offseason.

One of only 8 NHL defensemen to score 30 goals in a season. Somewhere Big Ev is smiling (he started a thread in these forums calling Mike Green a douche! lol).

Also that's a great trivia question right there.

Haven't heard that name around here in a few years. Wonder if he tries a comeback now that Ottawa may be good again.

Why would he have called Green a douche?

I think it stemmed from a show where Green's home was featured and I guess Ev thought he came across as douchey. Good times.

I think it had a lot to do with the faux hawk/tattoos Good Charlotte suburban-wannabe-badass look despite not looking like he has a badass bone in his body. Don't remember it having anything to do with anything Green actually did.

Wish I could find a longer clip of this but Green somehow got a lot of flak for this clip on the HBO 24/7 series because..... duh duh duhhhh, he's riding a scooter?!

Ev did have a way of getting worked up over things that didn't matter much

He could have pulled off being like the bassist or backup guitarist for Nickelback or something.
