Sounds more like stepping back than retiring, but good for him to know what's most important. Happy for the legend.

We all knew this was coming. As he states, he did just re-sign for another five years, but in a greatly reduced role, so technically, he's still around. Just not as a full time hockey insider.

Prolly a twitter man from now on, maybe like Free Agency and trade deadline specials on TV, but that's just my guess.

Guess a great insider, so I'm hoping it's his twitter side on the big days are still active.

I always have time for Bob but his cell phone sucked sh!t when he called into local sports talk radio for his regular interviews, lol! It turned into a running joke.

He's really the original Insider, and probably the first face I remember recognizing when watching TSN as a kid. I remember always thinking he looked like Uncle Joey from Full House. That has always stood out to me haha.

He was the best insider on TV for a long time. When TSN lost the television contract, I stopped watching TSN regularly, so he's been essentially dead to me for a while now. Happy trails old timer, I've missed you for a while now.

I continued to watch TSN mainly because of guys like Bob Mackenzie. I liked their announcers more than Sportsnet, Friedman being the only one I liked. I do like Burkie on Sportsnet now tho.

I rarely saw him, since I;m in the US, but thought he was good from what I saw.

Sounds like he's going to be semi-retired, and I hope he enjoys it.

What I'll miss most is the radio hits. I used to listen to all of his hits across the various TSN radios. Glad he's getting some nice retirement time but he will be missed, even if he's still around for a few things.
