Ill take tkachuck until guentzel can stay healthy , either way it will be close at the end of the year, if healthy slight edge to guentzel.

Maybe its a string of bad luck, but crosby and malkin tend to get injuries as well, so although the better player i think tkachuck the better option

I guess the other consideration there is how easy it is to replace an injured player?

I will vote Tkachuk. Tkachuk has had more points than Guentzel in each of their first four seasons. I don't see any reason that won't continue especially when Tkachuk is finally developing his man strength. Guentzel is also 3 years older so probably closer to his peak thank Tkachuk.

Perhaps because player A paced for 90 points last season, while player B paced for 72?

Add to that player A has a cheaper salary.

As well as the fact player A's centre is Sidney Crosby, while player B's centre is Mikael Backlund.

You're focusing on age, but breakout is more related to games played than age.

Those are all good points. I don't like using pace to project full season results but other do. So does the NHL apparently since James Neal scored 21 goals this year according to the Lucic trade!
