Default NHL players in the entry draft

    Hi guys! Question for you.

I'm trying to put my draft list together. It's all the 2020 eligible + some NHL players. I have some problems figuring out where they gonna/should go in the draft.

Here's the notable NHL players available: Kubalik, Marino, Gusev, Mikheyev & Gavrikov.

Where would you put these guys in the Bob McKenzie's Final Ranking top 26 if you were rebuilding (hope to win in 3+ years min.)?:

    1. Alexis Lafreniere
    2. Tim Stutzle
    3. Quinton Byfield
    4. Jamie Drysdale
    5. Cole Perfetti
    6. Lucas Raymond
    7. Marco Rossi
    8. Jake Sanderson

Kubalik and Gusev in the Stutzle/Raymond/Rossi grouping (so top 7)
Marino just inside the top 10 with Mikheyev just behind him.

    Gavrikov sometime after 15-20.

I'd have Kubalik in the 5-7 range. Gusev in the 8-10 range. Marino in the 13-15 range. Mikheyev in that same range. Gavrikov outside the top 26.

I will agree with what Axeman said. Production next season is worth a lot. Likely no one drafted outside of the top 10 will get even a game in the NHL next year and there's a good chance that no one drafted in the NHL in this year's entry draft plays in the NHL next season. For that reason, the established NHL players should be drafted much higher than most GMs would be taking them.

Forgot to put Cayden Primeau. Does he make the top 26 in your opinion?

Top 26 maybe, but probably not in my top 20.

What pick do you have in this draft? good info on the ranges where some of these guys to be picked. If you don't have a top 3 pick - you should get pretty good value for the top 25 payers whoever you get.

He'd be near the top 20 for me but not in the top 15. I do like Primeau a lot though. Unfortunately, opportunity behind Price makes him less desirable for now.

Bump out Schneider, Guhle, Barron. Drop Sanderson down to 20s. They are all going to be better irl than fantasy if they make it

I want to draft junior players because I don't think my team is going to we anytime soon. With the NHL players bumping down the junior back I think it's my best option. Might go with Marino if available...

It might make more sense to draft NHL guys then trade them as injury replacements to contending teams during the next season. You should be able to get more value that way plus you'll get a few extra months to evaluate the junior guys. Always remember that most people drafted outside of the first round of the NHL entry draft, never make the NHL.
