So would 1st overall mean you can draft Lafreniere?

I do feel this is a big overpaying. You are giving up 3 picks in the 1st round.
Krieder just had his best season, and then was injured. Hyman is good, but not sure he can do more points wise than Krieder. Both hit on some of your other categories.

With your 2nd overall; potentially you can draft Byfield or Stuzle. At 9th you could get anyone from Rossi, Sanderson, Lundell, Quinn, Perfetti.
14th overall could net you Mercer, Jarvis, Gunter or Askarov

Also help to know your current roster.

Not knowing much about your team I think you're giving up way too much. If you want to turn your 2nd overall into the 1st I'd concentrate on a much simpler package and add pieces for next season somewhere else.

Agree with the others. More context is needed but I think I'd do it if you pulled the 9th ov out. I would say pull the 2nd OV out but I doubt the other gm would be interested then in moving laf.

I do think laf will be the real deal and I would oeg him as a huberdeau type+

So to me a fair deal would be
    1st OV
    CK

    For
    2nd OV
    +14 OV
    + Podkolzin
    + Gorde

I don't think this deal is worth it at all.
This really doesn't help you towards pushing for competing this season or next.

You might be better off keeping what you have.

Though I don't mind the idea that roenick27 put forward. Could be something to consider. As getting Lafreniere is going to be good(something like a Huberdeau) but Byfield (could be like Malkin or Mats Sundin)or Stuzle (Mitch Marner) are nothing to sneeze at either.

    Here's what I'd do.

Tell him you want the 1st overall pick and he can keep Kreider and Hyman. Then ask him what three pieces from your side of the offer does he want and let him choose.

I don't think you are ready to spring to top yet... but you are loading up on some nice young talent. Keep going on that with this draft class and use your 1st rounders that you have accumulated. Unless you can work out something like roenick27's idea... I say hold.

G,A,+/-, PIM, PPG, SHG, GWG, OTG, FOWs, Hits, Blks, Maj, Mis, (bonus scoring for D-men makes them comparable to Wing)
    Wins, Saves, GA, Shutouts

I would just hold and draft Laf or Byfield second.

This sure looks like a team that is rebuilding and there are already some very nice pieces in place to do just that. Giving up blue chip prospects and very decent draft picks for guys like Hyman and Kreider is not a good idea IMO for the simple reason that I don't think that move puts you into contention this year and it has cost you significantly and will set back the rebuild. I'm quite content to draft Byfield and whoever falls to me in 9th and 14th overall. Forcing things to try and be competitive this year is just not advised. Next year, you should have a very very nice core and a ton of young talent to move to get the pieces you need to push to the top, but not this year. Patience, you're a year ahead of yourself here I think (:

I also would not make this trade. Keep the draft picks and continue to build a strong, young nucleus. This is a very bad trade idea, IMO.

I feel like Pods and 14th overall should net you a better player than Kreider.

I actually like this trade more than the original. I prefer Hyman to Compher as he fills your cats better, so I think that part of the trade is in your favor. I do agree with EB that Kreider vs the 14th overall (it will be a good player, but not like you're giving up a true top pick here) and Podkolzin is probably closer than it needs to be, but if you are going for it as you said in your OP, I am fine giving up some future for today.

    I'd probably do this trade.
