Default Which prospect to give up for Deangelo?

Hi all, San Jose team in my sig (takes you to a google doc which shows points and all my players etc inc farm).

DeAngelo is on the table for one of these prospects: Comtois, Brannstrom, Sorokin, Podkolzin, Kakko (I would probably rate getting rid of them in that order right now) who do you guys think I should trade, if any? Worth noting if you don't click on the link hits/blocks are included.

Info not in the doc: Came 1st in my division (4teams) last season, 2nd (joint on points) in the conference (8teams) and I'm considered one of the best teams in the league.

    Thanks

First off, you have to do some kind of deal. DeAngelo for most any prospect out there is a win if you're getting DeAngelo. In order of preference to trade away, I'd say

    Comtois

    Podkolzin
    Brannstrom
    Kakko
with Sorokin being the guy I'd most want to keep.

Comtois seems like a 3rd line kind of guy and I'm not sure he carves out the offensive role we'd want with so many young Anaheim skaters from which to choose. This is especially true if ANA picks a forward this autumn.

I would trade Podkzin or Contois for DeAngelo in a heartbeat!

Maybe won't happen lol. Guy is extremely infuriating to trade with, always changes his mind moments later. Went from 'these prospects one for one' to 'Kakko and Sorokin for Deangelo' which I'm not doing lol. Will update if I manage something!

If it looks like it's too good to be true, well, it's likely too good to be true. Not surprised the other guy bailed. The deal on the table now as swung completely the other way. Pass.

Kakko and Sorokin are clear no-go for me here.

The first name that would tempt me to move out would be Brannstrom. Yes he's going to be very good but so is DeAngelo with less growing pains.

If you can do a 1 for 1 with Brannstrom, I'd consider that.

I 2nd this. I think this makes the most sense. I personally think comtois has a chance to become a very good multi cat guy. Sorokin and kakko is a no go. Most wouldn't do a 1-1 with either of those two. I'd offer brannstrom or podkolzin maybe with an add for Tony d

i think Branstrom and Podkolizn are the 2 here you should consider...

Branstrom will be same or better offensively but will take time and Deangelo provides more physical stats
Podkolzin will be worth more then Deangelo in my mind as soon as summer 2022...but thats 2 years away and if you competing i do this deal

Comtois i would keep just cause he will play next year and if you compete, well you want his production.

Kakko and Sorokin are untouchable unless much better player is offered.

I would not trade for DeAngelo because there is no telling what his future holds. I do not see the Rangers giving him the term and dollars he will want after this season with Lundkvist ready to come over from Sweden who is also a righty. Fox is also far cheaper too.

Fair point! However, if the Rangers do not invest long term on DeAngelo, he'll likely be traded to a team that needs him badly. I just don't see him walking away for nothing. Wether it's in NY or not, DeAngelo should keep his PP time and top pairing minutes.

I agree but for the OP does he want to gamble on a situation that is not clear at this point in time.
