I personnelly don't. He's now 26, which is not old, but I don't see the progression. And he's also stuck "on a team that sucks donkey dicks" indeed.
He used to be on the same lvl as Theodore.
Shea has seen his stock rise up big time last year. While Montour is still stuck in a weird situation behind Dahlin and RR on a team that sucks donkey dicks.
This guy probably won't see any PP time and it's a shame.

I'm a Montour owner and I can't see him being a good fantasy player until he's in a better situation - meaning top PP minutes and he won't get that behind Dahlin and RR.
At one point Montour and Theodore were considered to be very similar. It was Montours play that made anaheim comfortable (or as comfortable as you could be given the circumstances) shipping Theodore to Vegas.
Since then, Theodore has had better opportunity with a better surrounding cast, and he’s risen to the occasion and elevated his game! Although Montour has not had the same opportunity, it’s becoming clear to me that they are two very different players. Although I believe Montour is better than he is right now, he’ll likely never be a #1 Dman, especially if he stays in Buffalo.
Not really. Anaheim had what was thought to be a bunch of future high impact offense defensemen, and right now, it looks like Theodore is the only one of them who will be high impact on offense. Boy did the Ducks screw things up with who they kept & dealt. He's solid, just not good enough to overtake anyone of quality on the power play. Top 4 D, maybe 2nd power play on the right team.

Deployment is king and its difficult to see how Montour can move up that depth chart unless there is a trade.
Agree with the rest. Anaheim blew it and Theodore is sure looking like he's a few notches above Montour. Speaking of Montour, I also agree that he is a top 4 D Man and get will get some PP2 time. I think what you see is pretty much what you get, OK, but an elite offensive D Man he is not.

Someone will eventually make it worth Buffalo’s while to trade Risto or Montour but unless and until that happens Montour is not getting the ice (or PP time) needed to be a 40+ guy. There are some teams that could really use a dynamic puck mover with a hard right shot but we’ll have to wait and see.
I own both Risto and Montour in my dynasty league, so I am hoping one (or both) get traded elsewhere real soon....!!
Anaheim themselves didn’t seem to believe in him by the time of their departure. That said I agree a better situation could lead to an uptick in production and what better place to prove yourself than the next expansion team? Hmmm.
maybe he just isnt that good...i definitely would not hold my hopes for 0.5 ppg D anymore..
