Do you think he will split starts 50-50 with Blackwood ? He still have a 6m$ contract for the next two seasons, and he was not that bad in February-March

A buyout is a real possibility and who knows if he'll get a backup gig somewhere else on a cheap contract. But if he stays in New Jersey they'll try to make it work because of the big contract.

Schneider has really struggled lately but remember this. He had hip surgery in May 2018. Luongo publicly commented that he had that surgery as well and it takes a solid two years to recover and feel normal.

I think he is at the end of his leash but I think he will get one more crack at things plus we are now at two years so he should be fully recovered so it's now or never for him.

I think he gets more starts than Blackwood for the Devils next season. He has the contract and he's probably back to full health.

I think both will get a chance to play and they will run with the hot hand. It could end up being Schneider and it could also end up being Blackwood. Hard to say who will get first crack to prove their salt.

We've been down this road long enough with Schneider. I don't think he'll be overly effective. His save percentage has been below league average for four straight years and he's 34. At this point a "bounce back" would mean getting to below-average NHL backup level. Crazy things happen though because goalies are voodoo. Sometimes wishing upon a star actually works.

It starts out that way. Doesn't mean it ends that way.

Wasn’t he good at the end of 18-19 season too? And then he had the bad start of 19-20. As others have said, you never know with goalies, but I would be hesitant of Schneider. I hope he prove me wrong though, always liked Schneider and I’d love him to get the cup one day.

I was about to mention his 18-19 finish as well.
