Anybody think he can be the starter in Chicago? I look forward to hearing your thoughts. I was offered Subban for my 2nd and 3rd round picks in the 2021 prospect draft.

It's tough to say right now. Chicago, always being in a cap crunch, has to resign Strome as well as a goalie. They might try Crawford on a cheap deal if he would accept it. Or, another flier on a the FA market.

My gut feeling is they try to offer Crawford a 3-4m deal to stay if he is healthy enough. He could retire, who knows.

If not, i think they try to offer a FA a Cam Ward type deal. Someone who can spot start or be a 1A/1B, and then throw Delia in there. I think Subban is 3rd in line.

I don't believe Subban is good enough to be a starter in the NHL for any team. I see him as a career backup. If you can acquire him cheap enough to he a handcuff I'd look at him, but I don't think he's worth a 2nd and a 3rd unless it's a huge league and the picks are at the backend of the rounds. Even then, not sure I'd invest two picks into him.

I agree. Even in my deepest league I don't think I would invest more than a 4th rounder into acquiring him.

Hard pass on that deal. Subban isn't NHL starter quality.

Chicago screwed up by dealing Lehner, and honestly, if you want to take a flier on a Chicago goalie, try Delia - he may be in FA.

I'm not even sure Subban has what it takes to be a reliable back up. I see him more as "for emergencies" only.

Don't have much faith in Malcolm right now. This may be his last opportunity from being a career minor leaguer if he gets a chance in the playoffs.

Not stable enough to keep it together over the long haul, which is needed to become a "starter" (whatever that means these days...)

If Crawford moves on they'll bring in someone else that Subban will have to outplay. It's always possible he gets enough opportunity due to draft pedigree and manages to figure it out mentally before time runs out. I'd put him in the category of "maybe, but probably not"

I'm definitely not moving multiple draft picks to acquire him.

Subban demonstrated impressive athleticism, well above average, and all he needed to do to be a star was learn how to play Goal and a lot of people hung their hat on that. He never learned how to play goal.
