Question What to Make of Morgan Rielly - REP Left

I've got Rielly now and don't know what to make of him. Still young, Barrie's likely gone so Rielly is top dog again, recently had 72 & 52 point seasons. But also been declining for a couple years now. However he's bumped way up to 4th best keeper D in Dobber's recent rankings, which I certainly respect. What do you guys think of him? Bounce back in a big way? Or not so much? I'm lost with this one.

EDIT: Sorry Admin, I meant to post this in the Defensemen Section. Can you move it please? Thanks!

I expect him to bounce back. The Leafs don't have the cap space to replace Barrie with an equivalent. The young dmen aren't ready to take on big PP roles, Dermott isn't dynamic enough to be a threat and Muzzin is relied upon more and more for defensive roles. Rielly is at worst a 50 point guy next year IMO. If I had to guess, I'd put him in the 55-65 points range.

I feel confident that Rielly will exceed 50 points next season, barring injury or virus shutdown. Barrie's imminent exit will re-open some scoring room for him.

Thanks guys! Sound good. I have a chance to give him and a pick upgrade to get Matty Tkachuk, but I'm thinking of holding. Like the picks and team I have now. Plus I'm a Leaf fan, haha. REP left where I could.

He is a shoe in for 50+ points every year on the Leafs!! I wouldn't be too worried about him as 1 of your 6 keepers!!

He's got two years left on his contract. After that, who knows what his situation will be. Enjoy the ride while you can.

If he plays 82 games next season, expect at least 55 points and likely more. As long as Barrie is gone, there's hope for 70 every year on that Leafs team as PP1 QB.

Declining for a couple of seasons? He scored 72 points last year for third highest scorer among D. I believe he was playing through injuries through most of this year and was still contributing. Now is certainly not the time to sell.

Yes that's a good point - he was playing injured and looked bad by his standards a lot of the year. When he finally came back after a different injury, he was refreshed and looked really dynamic.

You're right, I was thinking it was 52 last year and 72 the year before, but I flipped them in my head by mistake. It was this year he was on pace for 47 in a full season. Thanks!

Rielly will return to form. Barrie should never have been brought in to be the man. Rielly just came off a 72 point season, and the idea was to add another PP QB? When what they really needed was a bad ass stay at home guy. With Barrie and Ceci gone, I think the Leafs D has no where to go but up, and Rielly leads the way.

Reilly was dealing with injuries this year, even while playing. I definitely can get behind Dobber's ranking, he is a stud and will be for as long as he is in Toronto manning that PP.
