Sounds like the East teams are playing in the East and the West and playing in the West.

Oh cool. I remember hearing at one time to prevent 'home ice' advantage that it would be inverse... but I hadn't heard much else.

Now if Toronto wins the Cup there will be lots of complaining about the home ice advantage.

In BC we heard if a player tested positive the NHL wanted to quarantine the player only. BC medical advisor wanted the whole team quarantined and therefore pulled the BC bid.

I think it's good that they picked 2 Canadian cities. Most of the US cities that would've been considered are pretty much bad fits due to lack of containment, or lack of a NHL team. Minneapolis may have been okay, or someplace with few cases, and an AHL rink, multiple rinks that can host play is better.

According to Bob McKenzie, it appears as though Edmonton will be used as the host location for both the Western and Eastern Conference Final and the Stanley Cup Final. McKenzie speculates that the rationale for picking Edmonton as the host instead of Toronto has to do with health and safety as Alberta’s capital has fewer COVID-19 cases.

Awesome. I love that both Conference finals will move to one city at the same time! I think that is the most fair way to do it!

That remains to be seen. I'm not convinced it's going to be really be that big of a deal economically, but I am hoping it is.

Not a huge boost, big sporting events see the big money generated from thousands of fans going to your location and spending on hotels, tickets, meals, drinks, entertainment, etc. There will be no fans traveling in to the hubs to make this a windfall for either city. Heck I live in Edmonton but I see no real way to take advantage of this situation other than soak up the city wide vibe if the Oilers can go deep. Makes we wonder what the plans for crowd control around Roger's Place will be like...

Torn between wanting the Flames to get Lafreniere and wanting the Flames to win the cup on Edmonton home ice.

I'm happy with the Toronto / Edmonton selections. The Oil was one of my "sleepers" to make it to the Cup anyway--wouldn't this be something?

I do believe the CBA is getting done today, and speculation is the announcement of hub cities will be made today. However, I don't see why they would when the generic hockey fanbase understands why they don't need to be told the hub cities right now. Everything is scheduled with a pencil nowadays.
