Default Who to take in a dispersal draft?

My team is in my sig. I have not narrowed down my keepers 100% but close. We had to kick a guy out of our pool and decided to not replace him and his team is going into the draft here are my options I have the first pick.

    Larkin

    Top w

Ovechkin ( is he to old to take over some of the younger stars?)

    Top D

    Morgan Rielly
    Hamilton
    Seth Jones

    Goalies:

    F Anderson

Looking at your team needs, I would seriously consider taking Dougie Hamilton with this pick. Thinking ahead to next year and what your keeper requirements are, even if you took an OV or Johnny Gaudreau, that would mean you'd have to let go a Matthew Tkachuk. Considering value above replacement, I think that Hamilton is the pick here.

I want to say Ovie, but I agree Hamilton does make a ton of sense for your team.
I would probably still take Ovie and keep him as your extra. Or you could try to trade down (is that allowed?)

Have to go with Ovy here. I think if you are not in contention to win this year then you deal him at the trade deadline.

I can trade the pick or take ovi and trade him. I can't believe i even have to consider not taking OVi but given his age 34 its not as easy off a pick as it may seem.

This for me by a long-shot. I simply no longer bet against Ovechkin. He's an elite goal scorer, on the PP. You take Ovy and make the rest of the moves around him. He fits nicely as your "extra" (more accurately he's your top winger and A.Svechnikov is your extra). Simple question: Would you be able to trade Dougie Hamilton straight-up for Ovechkin next season?

Draft Ovie. Unless you can trade down to pick 2 with a very nice sweetener.

this is a no brainer, Hamilton obvious choice especially being that you keep three, your other three wingers are better than ovi imo and will get more years. Hamilton is a steal here , JMO of course defense are hard to get in most fantasy

Ovechkin, unless trading down to 2, maybe 3 will net you something. Ovechkin may immediately become your best player. Don't be tempted by Gaudreau or Hall, they are not remotely good enough in your pool to pass on him.

If you move down, you take Hamilton or Jones, or Ovechkin, if he's left for you.

Was Ovechkin the top player in your league this year? I'm thinking top skater with those categories, or close to it.

I get what everyone is saying about Ovi!! The guy is absolutely a beast and is defying father time like few others. BUT, as a few folks have said, Hamilton is the guy who makes the most sense for your team IMO as well. Josi, Makar and Hamilton is a pretty impressive back end core. Ovi would make you better, but I don't think he is as much an upgrade on any of your Wingers as much as Hamilton is an upgrade on Hronek and Barrie, Buff is likely done. Hope this helps.

If somebody could guarantee Ovechkin will be an NHL hockey player thru... 2023... then he's the pick.
But his contract is up next summer (2021), a summer where they'll need to re-up Vrana (RFA) and Samsonov (RFA) with Holtby likely leaving this summer.
OV now has two young children with a displaced Russian wife who probably might prefer to raise her kids in her own country.
OV has oodles of cash, a Stanley Cup, and would be a *GOD* at home in Russia.
I'd say it's 50/50 that he hangs them up in 2021... and plays in the KHL and then also the 2022 Olympics.
He has *nothing* left to prove at the NHL level... except to catch Gretzky in goal-scoring... and I don't know if OV needs that.

    Hamilton for me.
As a fantasy player, he's a 80/100 and you get him for next 5+ solid years of top-level D stats.
OV might be a 100/100 value for 1 year... he might be 5 years... but he IS a risk... and if you can't trade him for the year... and he "Michael Jordan hints" at early retirement, you get nothing on your investment.

Don't pretend he's a lock for beyond 2021 in the NHL.
