Will Larsson and Dumba become useful again?
I've got Larsson and Dumba on my team currently, Dumba was sitting at over 8fp/g in the seasons prior to this one (now at 5fp/g) and Larsson around 7fp/g now at 4-5fp/g.
What are your thoughts on these two? I think I should look for a trade for Larsson but I think Dumba could become a top player again. It's tough though as it's very much a sell low right now.

I dont expect Larsson to develop into much of an offensive player - maybe 25 points range at best. Dumba I am very sure has brighter days ahead. He should be a 45 point guy again. Not sure how that translates into your format but yeah offensively thats how I see it.

I would bet on Dumba, but not on Larsson.

It depends on what you're expecting from either guy. Larsson isn't an offensive guy but is a hits beast. Obviously health is a concern but that's not different from anyone. You can't perform if you're hurt. Can he bounce back? If course he can, as long as he can stay healthy.
Dumba concerns me more because he was healthy this past year and struggled. I say he was healthy because we assume that was the case.
I think both are capable of bouncing back but as I say, Dumba concerns me more.

I second your own opinion: I'm way more confident in a rebound by Dumba than one by Larsson. I think last season was rock bottom for Dumba and his value can't go down any further (barring severe injury of course).

In virtually every one of my pools, which are multi cat, Larsson has been sitting as an FA for the last two years. Not so Dumba. I think that tells the story?

Got to agree with Axe here, I'm not sure of your stats but in my league Larsson was a quality player prior to last season (averaging 7fp/g) which to put into perspective is roughly at what Makar/Trouba are this year.

These are CAP leagues, sorry, should have mentioned that as well. Guys are finding the hits and the blocks elsewhere on the cheap. No one seems to have interest in him. What an I say (:

Larsson was only ever useful with periphs - so in that sense, yes he'll become useful there again.
Dumba - yes, but don't expect a perennial 50+pt Dman. Much safer to peg 45ish with upside and solid periphs.

It did look for a while like Larsson was going to get some kind of offensive game going before he was traded to Edmonton. Now he's become quite good in his shutdown role.
I have definitely seen players who hit change their game and stop hitting as much, but it's probably true that injuries have forced him to change how he plays. It can take a year or two for them to get back to hitting. But the game has changed so I dunno if he ever returns to those old levels - the modern defenseman seems to be more into a kind of shoving and positioning than full out body checks.

I can appreciate why people are hanging on to Dumba but to be fair, he's no more worth his $6M cap hit than Larsson at $4.16M. If anything, Larsson at that price point probably has similar if not more value than Dumba.

I have more faith in Dumba being more generally useful, but about equal faith int hem in your league. Larsson is useless in some leagues, but you have enough grit that he's worthwhile. They've flip-flopped as to which has been better in my deep cap multi-cat.
Have Larsson on a short leash if he isn't hitting a month into the new season, and is apparently healthy. Once that goes, his value goes as well.
