Points Only: Give Gaudreau to Get Dahlin? REP Given!

For the team in my sig, should I do this deal? I haven't really watched Dahlin, but I hear great things. Does Johnny bounce back from this down year? Does Dahlin keep growing? Also a chance I could give M. Tkachuk straight up instead. Would you do that?

As much as you might need help on defense and as much as Dahlin's ceiling is high, Gaudreau is too much to give up even in a down year. I'd say the same for M. Tkachuk.

I think a fair deal for both sides would be B. Tkachuk, as you're trading potential on both sides. If the younger Tkachuk explodes, then you already seem to have the scoring to absorb the hit.

IMO even though you could use a D upgrade you should pursue a goalie upgrade first and foremost.

I should clarify - this is all offseason trading, and the team listed below is pre-draft still. So don't worry about the players other than my keepers (or positions to upgrade) - they'll be all new and improved by the draft. Thanks!

In that case I would suggest you keep Gaudreau. With 72 players being kept, Gaudreau probably won't be available by the end of the first round, while you should be able to draft Dahlin with one of your second round picks.

Dahlin will be kept by the guy who has him now, but I still agree that it’s likely best to keep Johnny Hockey. In a points only league I find that having high scoring wingers is likely the way to go. I used to be defence-first, but found them a lot more volatile from year to year in general.

If you can get Dahlin and give up Gaudreau, I'd do it. It's easier to find a PPG forward than to find a potential 60+ D man.

I would keep Gaudreau, still top 20 upside. Try and trade one of the Tkachuks for a 50 pt Dman.
You are correct Dmen are volitile. You should be able to draft a couple 40+ Dmen with your second round picks.

Good question. There will be about 10 or so Defence kept, about 8 or so Goalies, and the rest forwards. So like the other guy mentioned, I'll be able to still draft some very solid D in the 2nd round (and later).
