The only thing I could see is maybe some health insurance not happening when someone is fired as a cost saving.
I am 100% certain scouting staff contracts run to July 1st. I am pretty sure this is also true for all NHL staff.

I didn't know that with scouting staff. But there was contracts that came out with recent coaches where July 1st wasn't the end date of their deal.

I honestly thought I saw a head coach get their contract expire in like August. A reason why he couldn't be hired somewhere else? It was like, "why would this coach accept any job until after his deal is done because he could get essentially 2 paycheques (from fired team, and have a deal set up right after that ones done)".

However, I'm reading this article https://www.yardbarker.com/nhl/artic...13132_32043755 and it sounds like it is general practice to have a deal expire June 30th.

I still don't get how their defense didn't work. On paper it's such a good young core...

Not sure what's up with Skinner. He's never been as bad as he was this year. They paid him like an elite trigger man and then stop playing him with their elite center too...this contract could get a whole lot uglier than it was the day it was signed.

If more power Is given to Krueger, I assume he’ll push to keep Ristolainen in Buffalo?
