    Default goalie trade

It is for my league in signature.

I've been offered M Blackwood and D Gurianov for J Markstrom and A Henrique. Side benefit for me is that Blackwood and Gurianov are both auto protected this season. So I save 2 roster spots and money.

How quick should I hit accept on this?

Also what do you think Gurianov's upside is?
I am thinking he has some 30 goal potential (or is there more) and into the mid 50's for total points.

Money as in salary or real dollars? Saving 2 keeper spots can be very good, depending on who it lets you keep. I like Gurianov to produce at least like Henrique, so that's a good thing.

I think he may have 40 goal potential, honestly. 20 in 64 is a 25 goal pace, on a team that plays low-event hockey, as a 22 year old in first full NHL season.

Markstrom > Blackwood right now, but that's a pretty reasonable move as a package for near term. Better skater, lesser goalie, both as free keeps. Given your goalies I take it right now.

    Thanks.
    I just accepted the trade.
This move saves my $6.5 million in salary and 2 roster spots.
Which will allow me to protect Trocheck, Labanc, and Dvorak.

I think that’s a good deal. I like what Blackwood can develop into. I would also take the upside of Guiranov over Henrique most days of the week.

How does your cap work in your league?

To me, Markstrom is the best player in this deal by a long shot. Henrique is solid in this hockey card type league too but he's expensive (again, depends on how your cap works in your league).

To me, I'd say you're looking at age and not performance as an influence to make this deal.

Our cap is a little silly. Short of it. We have a 63.5 million dollar cap and you can protect 28 players.
However you get more money and player spots for each round of the playoffs. So make it to the finals, that is an extra 3 million and 3 roster spots.
You earn extra cap space if you win trophies. Every trophy is worth 0.5 million in cap space.

In our game Markstrom and Blackwood are almost equal, slight edge to Markstrom as he put up a better gaa and sv%.
Yes I am looking at age, but also looking at upside.

    No.
The salary is based on the games they played and then their stats.
Once a skater plays over 51 games his base salary is $1 million. If he scores 20 goals it's another 1 million and for every 10 goals after that it is another 0.5 million per jump. So a 30 goal scorer will cost a min of 2.5 million
Then there is more if you have someone who is good in the face off circle. Can cost 0.5 or 1 million more depending on how well they did.
If you have 1 of the 6 forwards or 4 defenceman who have the most amount of assists. They become what we call a 13 star, that costs an extra 1 million to the players salary.

Okay. I figured it likely wasn't NHL salary given the low totals. I still like the move. Knowing your cap rules is crucial to success in cap leagues.
