Default Quick Advice Needed: Jones vs Mrazek vs Varly

    2pts for a W, 3pts for a SHO, 1pt for OTL
Salary pool, not caphit. Forever keeper.

Which goalie do you prefer of the trio? I own Jones but he no longer looks to be the goalie he was just a few years ago.

    Jones 6mil, 5.5mil, 5mil, 4.5mil
    Mrazek 1yr 3.25mil
    Varly 4mil, 6mil, 4mil

Any advice would be greatly appreciated. Considering trading Jones for todays pick prior to the GM selecting.

I'd go with Mrazek and find a better option during the season.

Varlamov could be a decent option, but with Sorokin crossing the pond I think he's going to be the 1B option before long
Jones and the Sharks are not trending in the right direction

Jones is definitely at the bottom of that list for me. I'd probably go with Varlamov here. Everyone's worried about Sorokin coming over but Varly will have the crease for a few more years yet.

Varlamov stands out as the best option to me. Mrazek isn't in any of a safer position than him. The Hurricanes tried to acquire Lehner at the trade deadline.

Does anyone know if Sorokin needs protected in expansion? I feel like Seattle would have to consider Varly if he was available. That is assuming Sorokin isnt exempt.

Thanks for all the replies so far!

I don't know the rules precisely but I am positive the islanders will ensure he is ineligible for that draft. Most prospects who haven't played long in the league are ineligible if the Vegas expansion draft is the model they go with, so even if he could become eligible the isles will ensure that he is not, either by putting him in the minors or scratching him. TLDR I would not be worried about the expansion draft in terms of Sorokin

" All first- and second-year NHL players, and all unsigned draft choices, will be exempt from selection (and will not be counted toward protection limits)." So I believe Sorokin is exempt as it's impossible for him to be a 3rd year player before the expansion draft.

Definitely not a Mrazek fan — I'd rather go with Jones, and take my chances with the Sharks. (gasp!). Varlamov clear #1 of these three with the defensive structure of NYI.

12-team, H2H. Keep 12, but drop 2 of top four skaters, and also 2 of next six, then five more (from end-of-year rankings). One GK max.

As a former Jones owner I get it. And I’m done with him. But I also am not terribly enamoured with Mrazek.
Varly is the best option IMO.

Only reason to keep Jones is that you hope he gets bought out, and becomes cheap.
