NHL 1 Per Team Draft - Discussion

Hers my thoughts:

32 rounds (31 NHL teams plus 1 player from a defunct team)

Players can only be drafted once.

16 F
8 D
3 G
5 B (any position)

If we aren’t going to determine a winner like we did in the history draft is anyone opposed to guys drafting their favourite players and not necessarily the best player available? Nothing far fetched, but just so it is a bit more fun drafting.
Example: I wouldn’t take someone like Kaberle over Lidström but maybe someone like Kaberle over Scott Stevens? Just an example off the top of my head.

By all means draft whoever you want for whatever reason you want!! We want it to be fun for everyone! So if you want to draft Mike Modano as a Detroit Red Wing because the red jersey brought out the color of his eyes, or you want to draft Ilya BRygalov as a Flyer because you can relate to his fear of tigers... go ahead!!

Yeah but then I’d think there should be a quick explanation after each pick, maybe limited to 10-12 words. Like: “Gretzky, LA Kings - was saving McDavid for my Oilers,”. Or “Gonchar, Capitals - better slapshot than Carlson.” If it’s just fun, then??

I think this is a good idea. But can be optional. I don’t want to give away my thoughts for future picks!

We have kicked things off!

And my Penguins player is up for trade... looking for a used jock strap in return.

I just want to clarify this before we get going. Sens, Jets franchises include their past franchises. But whalers, Nordiques etc are defunct for the purposes of this draft correct?

Didn’t those teams just “move?” Why should they be ineligible ? Like Kovalchuk for Thrashers....

They're not ineligible but you have to pick Kovalchuk Thrashers with your defunct franchise slot, not your Jets slot as far as I know.
