Default Is SJ good enough for Burns to bounce back

    Signature isn’t updated. Sorry

I’m planning my keepers for next season and need to decide which 3 of these 4 d men I should keep.

    Josi
    Burns
    Krug
    Chabot

My first thought is to drop Krug, his injury history scares me a bit. But B Burns at $8m is a hefty price to pay if he doesn’t bounce back. I love Chabot’s potential long term. And Josi is a Beast.

Do y’all believe that Burns can bounce back at age 35. Is SJ too crappy for him to put up big numbers. Also Erik Karlsson being there scares me.

    Which 3 would you keep?

If you could also give a point projection for each, it would be much appreciated

Is it the scoring set up in your signature? Just points pretty much? If so, I'd probably drop Burns due to the age factor. If it's multicat, it would be another story altogether.

And FWIW, in a cap league, I'm not certain Chabot will be great value...

Ya, just points. I’m kinda feeling the same way on Burns. As for Chabot, I think his long term potential is worth it. Ottawa should be a much better team in a few years. At least that’s the hope.

It comes down to Burns versus Krug for me. How much is Krug?

He’s a UFA. I think if he re-signs with BOS he’ll come cheaper just because of their internal cap and competitive window. Maybe $6.5-$7m

Ah, for some reason I thought those were auction salaries. If you can trade one, I'd shop them, but do you have any other options that are worth mentioning?

    I’ve got Pietrangelo(UFA) and Morrissey ($6.2m)

    All my current D

    Josi $9m
    Pietrangelo $ufa
    Chabot $8m
    Burns $8m
    Krug $ufa
    Morrissey $6.2m
    Heiskenen $0.8m

Money is tight. So I’m looking for value. If I can get close to point/game from a D, I don’t mind paying big bucks.
But to spend big and get 40-50ish points, would not be ideal.
    I’d even keep 4 D, making $8m+ if I could guarantee 260 points. 65 point avg.

To me, Chabot's most likely outcome is big bucks and you pray he gets 45 points...

So, in my mind, your decision comes down to Burns. If San Jose does improve significantly, they have SO, SO MUCH more future invested in Erik Karlsson - so Burns becomes a one-year option. One. Year. For my money, I try to get a good draft pick or a decent prospect for him NOW, because his value won’t be better as a) he gets older, and b) SJ turns PP1 over to EK65.

Given that situataion I think I keep neither Krug nor Burns, nor either of the two guys you added when I asked about other options.

If Krug stays in Boston, you got to think they will fit him at 6mil maximum. If that is a case i like him here. To me in cap league if you can get a point for every 100K from a F thats good deal, if you can get that from the D thats even better. I think Krug can score 60 points or close to it constantly for next 3-4 years.
