Even with 5, certainly with 10 - my question still is how we count. If I picked 2018-19 Kucherov Hart, the next pick could be 2018-19 Kucherov Art Ross, correct? (Kucherov Conn Smythe, maybe not..). I’m not as big a fan of the statistical awards, too easy to just report the math. And again, the crossover will be massive. Conn Smythe maybe preferable to Selke...?

12-team, H2H. Keep 12, but drop 2 of top four skaters, and also 2 of next six, then five more (from end-of-year rankings). One GK max.

    Stutzle, Sergachev
    Keller, Doughty, Verhaeghe, ErikssonEk
    E.Lindholm, Barzal, J.Gaudreau, Huberdeau, S. Wright

this was my thinking as well... thats why Art Ross and Maurice Richard are only 'maybe's' . someone would really have to convince me on them.

Any interest in Jack Adams ?? i like the idea of comparing the Coach winners as well.

Selke: No, I’m not suggesting we drop the Selke from the draft - but I do believe it’s a beauty pageant award, based on media popularity far more than best defensive forward (let alone the Norris, where actual defensive play is also not rewarded...). “Last Word on Hockey,” using advanced stats - best at expected goals against per 60min, shots against per 60min, other stats - suggested Valeri Nichushkin should win this year, “and it’s not even close.” But “beauty” and sportswriters’ respect?? None. Anthony Cirelli?? Oh, no... not enough pedigree no matter how he’s actually played. Looking through the winners, and especially players of those years who didn’t win, nearly always the more famous, established player beats the actual defensive forward. Jordan Staal?? Nah. Never a nomination, despite whether in PIT or CAR. ALWAYS put out there as defensive forward, not the PP1 guy.

Research has made me far less a fan of this award than I was.

This is very true so all I'll add is there are multiple awards like this. Jack Adams appears to be the most surprising coach of the year award. MVP is best player in the league on a team that makes the playoffs (it is for the player most important to their team) and some argue is biased against goalies. Norris too far in favour of offensive defensemen. Some have argued the Calder is biased against defensemen. I think if we do add Selke we should agree to assess it in the view of how the award criteria is interpreted instead of how it was meant to be interpreted otherwise we will not have a consistent idea of what we are selecting.

    Also I'm now Gandalf. 6000!!!

Okay I think I got it finalized....

We will use the following to draft:

    Awards:

    Hart
    Norris
    Vezina
    Calder
    Conne Smythe
    Jack Adams
    Selke

    Years Available:

1997-98 Season to 2018-19 season (Omitting 2004-2005 because there was no season and omitting 2012-13 Lockout Season)
Total of 20 seasons to choose from for each award.

    Everyone's Roster:

    4 Hart -
    4 Vezina -
    4 Calder -
    4 Norris -
    4 Conne Smythe
    4 Selke -
    4 Jack Adams -

If newfcollins is busy and not around to pick after a while... we will keep all the parameters the same and change it so everyone is drafting 5 of each award as opposed to 4.

So.... use this as discussion thread? I loved the first round ! Great picks by all. This will be a very different type of draft by the end, though, when it’s taking the second-worst over the worst. LOL

Yes it will thats for sure. And ultimitaley when we are done will will have ranked the each of the awards from best to worst for the period.

I wasn't sure about taking a coach in thee first round. But he took a bunch of the leftovers from all the other NHL teams and not only made the playoffs but went to the Cup Final. I just had to go for that.
