    Default Potential D Options

In a points only keeper league. I have 6 picks in the top 34. I need to pick at least 3 D to balance out my team as I have alot of forwards. I'd be ok with waiting 2 years before they become relevant but the sooner the better. Also there is a 40 player roster with no bench.
    Please rate these players

    Ryan Merkley
    Calen Addison
    Thomas Harley
Jamie Drysdale (will probably go early)
    Alexander Romanov
    Moritz Seider
    Scott Perunovich
    Ian Mitchell
    Nils Lundkvist
    Victor Soderstrom
    Jake Bean
    Ville Heinola
    David Farrance

    Thanks

If closeness matters much then I think Romanov, Seider and Soderstrom are your best bets.

Don't get too stuck on NEEDING 3-D - You could end up skipping a stud forward to fill a 'need' - that can be filled via waiver wire or trade. Focus on BPA

    Drysdale
    Harley
    Heinola
    Merkley
    Soderstrom
    Perunovich
    Seider
    Romanov
    Bean
    Addison - Farrance
    Mitchell
    Lundkvist

For the most part, I agree with Eric on Seider, Soderstrom & Romanov for timeliness to NHL
    That said,
Don't forgo upside either for that proximity.

Perunovich is one that could be NHL ready.
Same as Mitchell (although I believe he'll be more of a 30pt - great real life Dman vs. great fantasy Dman)
I think we'll see Drysdale close the time-gap pretty quick

    Heinola soon.
    Romanov within 1-2 years
Drysdale and Jake Sanderson aren’t that far apart as 2020 draft prospects, and you may be able to get Sanderson a bit later in this type of draft
CONDORS, 2022-23 league champions, Reg Dunlop Mem Cup

12-team, H2H. Keep 12, but drop 2 of top four skaters, and also 2 of next six, then five more (from end-of-year rankings). One GK max.

    Stutzle, Sergachev
    Keller, Doughty, Verhaeghe, ErikssonEk
    E.Lindholm, Barzal, J.Gaudreau, Huberdeau, S. Wright

Once again, you to restate what has been said, you don't NEED 3 D prospects. I'm not going to pretend to be abel to give you an exact order, but I like these the most, based on you wanting relevance sooner:

    Bean, Drysdale, Heinola, Romanov, Seider.

    Thanks guys
I was leaning towards Drysdale, Seider and Romanov. I suspect Drysdale will be gone by the time I pick. I like Romanov but I'm concerned about his point totals. I may look at Sanderson more, orininally didn't see him as an offensive Dman.
Reason I need 3 Dmen is once I drop players for our draft i'll only have 7 D and need to dress 6. The other teams seem to hoard D. Also some of my D like Yandle are getting old.

I don't get the strategy here with no minors. You need to dress 6 but all these D are prospects and not fantasy relevant for at least another 2 years. So what's the point to be able to dress them if they are on a 3rd pair with no PP or probably in minors? In a keep 8 I would draft all these 30+ years old that are left and fantasy relevant right now. It might be ok to draft 1 prospect for the future but having to draft 3 D prospects, I must miss something.

I would love to be able to draft some D that could help me right away but they are all taken, as an example the best veteren D that I could draft would be Devon Toews or Jonas Brodin. I'm also sure these 2 guys will be picked early by the teams that think they can win this year. I'd rather use my picks to draft somebody with higher potential as i'm probably 2 years away from contending.

Romanov - he is going to learn from Weber,
Seidletz - going to be top dog in Det witin 3-5 years, high upside
Heinola - going to get chance in Wpg
    Drysdale -
    Merkley
    Lundkvist
    Peronovich
    - if yopu get 3 out of these 6 you will be good 95% confident 1 will turn in to a stud and good chance 3 or 4 will turn out to be VG players.

Yzerman doesn't draft many duds. Give me the future stud: Moritz Seider!! I'd like to see where Drysdale goes first.. I also like Heinola Harley and Perunovich.. Lundkvist would be nice but too many mouths to feed in NYR!!

To me, I feel people really underrate Merkley because of his attitude problems, but according to his most recent dobber page update, his attitude has improved as well as his defensive play. Getting traded to London this season did wonders for him and I expect him to make the Sharks out of camp this coming season (whenever it starts) and flourish. He is the most NHL ready out of everyone you listed, and quite possibly, the highest ceiling, especially in your league format. However, I wouldn't restrict myself to drafting 3 d man. You win fantasy pools based on the strength of your blue line, as highly productive d man are very valuable in a fantasy hockey setting. I'd rank them as follows

Jamie Drysdale (18, a very high ceiling and could very well play in the NHL right away)
    Ryan Merkley
    Alexander Romanov
    Moritz Seider
    Scott Perunovich
    Ville Heinola
    Nils Lundkvist
    Victor Soderstrom
    Thomas Harley
    Jake Bean
    David Farrance
    Ian Mitchell
