    Default Noooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooo

Damn it, the lottery ended and i dropped from 1st to 4th. Laf is going one, while Sorokin is going 2nd since the team has shitty goalies. Options may include: Byfield, Kaprizov, Turcotte, Byram? Any of these guys seem like the obvious choice if they fall to 4th? Thanks for the feedback in advance.

Do you guys think Byfield makes the jump to NHL next year? Physically ready but young for his draft year, season cut short and potentially faces some sort of abbreviated offseason with his NHL club.

Some seem to think he's better suited playing one more year in the O. Depending on which team drafts him, they may want him on the main roster. Personally I feel he'd be sent back down to play one more season in the O.

That's what I was thinking because some guys in my league were saying that they think it takes 2-3 years until he becomes fantasy relevant. Is that a factual statement?

Maybe, maybe not. Again, depends on who drafts him and what types of opportunities he's given. I'd say a year tops and he's well on his way to becoming a fantasy stud.

Who in their right mind is drafting Sorokin at #2? I am taking Lafreniere 1, Kaprizov 2, Byfield 3 but I would also be interested to know who else is available if names like Turcotte and Byram are there. It seems to me that your league does not value high end prospects very highly.

Are people going to take Sorokin that high because Shesterkin had an "amazing" 12 game stretch?

Let's see who Shesterkin played against in his 12 games and how those teams rank offensively for the season:

@ Dallas -2 goals against - 26th in goals for per game
vs NJ - 5 goals against (in 40 minutes) - 24th in goals for per game
vs San Jose - 2 goals against - 27th in goals for per game
    @ Carolina - 2 goals against - 11th in goals for
    @ Chicago - 3 goals against - 18th in goals for
    @ Winnipeg - 1 goal against - 17th in goals for
vs LA - 1 goal against - 30th in goals for
vs Toronto - 3 goals against - 3rd in goals for
vs Detroit - 2 goals against - 31st in goals for
vs Columbus - 2 goals against - 28th in goals for
vs New Jersey - 3 goals against - 24th in goals for
vs Colorado - 3 goals against - 4th in goals for

Based on this, it looks like the Rangers "turned their season around" because of the schedule makers and not because of their goaltending. Shesterkin played 2 games against teams with a top ten offense and let in 3 goals in both of those games.

Shesterkin also won a few games having 40+ shots against. I see no harm in someone taking a shot at grabbing the best goalie outside of the NHL. Maybe they did have a bit of an easier schedule. They were also supposed to be one of those easy teams. If the comparison between the two is so close, nothing is saying Sorokin can't come in and do as good, or better than Shesterkin. Just me two nickels.

The guy who's taking Sorokin at 2 has Gibson, MAF and Hogberg. Pretty much if the guy doesn't have a contract, then we can't pick them up since it's a cap league. So you would take Kaprizov over Byfield?

I'm trying to get a guy who can produce ASAP so that's why i'm pissed that I couldn't get the first pick. So is Byfield the pick at 4 if he falls? I'll post another thread if the teams ahead of me change plans. I just think Kaprizov may be like Panarin when he comes into the league. Idk though

Actually those aren't remotely close to "shitty goalies" that he has; be aware that the Sorokin talk may be a smokescreen.

If you can't pick up guys without contracts, is there some exception for the year they are drafted so that you can grab them?

I'm trying to get a guy who can produce ASAP so that's why i'm pissed that I couldn't get the first pick.
If you're set on must produce this year, you pretty much need to deal the pick if Byfield isn't there. I saw you are looking a tPanarin, could Drouin + #4 get him? Offer to throw in Lindell as a sweetener.
