Default Identify next star F outside of 1st round REP

    Hey Guys,

since there is no NHL I'm wondering who could be the next big scorer type of players who coming out of nowhere. I mean not drafted or drafted outside of first round like Kucherov, Point, Panarin, Aho, Guentzel. I don't think they were hyped when they were 18 or 19 years old (maybe only Aho).

I see few common things in them, they dominated at every level before NHL too, but somehow NHL teams did not identified them elite level prospects.
If I'm not mistaken all of them are very good skaters and has decent size, they are around 5'11 (not small, not big) and of course have elite level skill.

My question is, who could be the next one? for example I have Kirill Marchenko on my list. Thanks your input!

Kirill Marchenko is a great one to keep an eye on.

I wouldn't be surprised if every reply you get has Nick Robertson's name in it.

Adam Beckman quietly led the WHL in scoring this past season.

Also, Jack Studnicka doesn't quite meet the criteria you're looking for but he's progressed well since being picked 50ish a few years back. He's often penciled in as Boston's Krecji/Bergeron replacement so opportunity for him will likely be there sooner or later.

Alexander Khovanov was drafted 86th overall and had a great year in the Q. I don't know if he's going to be a star, but I think he's someone to keep an eye on.
Points only keeper. 12 Teams. No pos requirements. 18 skaters / 3 goalies (2 count for points.) G/A = 1 point each (includes goalies) Goalies = 1.5 for W / 4.5 for SO. Minors - 4 year protection. Prospects added during their draft year only. Undrafted = waivers.

Jan Jenik is one I would look at closely. He didn't play a full OHL season in his draft year. Had he, odds are he goes significantly higher than #65 overall.
He looked dominant in the WJC this past year prior to his injury.
Button had him as the #7 ranked prospect not playing in the NHL this year as well.

Some guys that got some draft hype as sleeper prospects last year:

    Dorofeyev
    N. Robertson
    B. Brink

One guy I like as having some real good upside but a 2-3yr wait is Alex Beaucage (Col #78)

A couple that really progressed this year that haven't been mentioned that are worth digging into:

Puistula - Car - pure sniper
    Protas - Wsh
Norlinder - Dman - Mtl -- has outside chance of top pair upside if development continues.
Fagemo - Ott - lit up the WJC
Tyce Thompson - NJ - had a great NCAA season
Maccielli - Arz had a brilliant 1st pro year in Liiga

I'll add 2018 3rd rounder Morozov in Vegas looks like a gem to come over in a year or two.

If he can crack the top six in Vancouver, I really like Nils Hoglanders upside.
10 Team, Points Only, Cash League

25 Man Roster (no position), top 20 point getters count at end of month
Keep 20/25 at seasons end, Cut 5 to FA for redrafting
    Goalie points W=2pt L=-1pt SHO=2pt

Stamkos, Tavares, Eichel, Mercer, JRobertson, RThomas, Kucherov, Nugent-Hopkins, Tuch, KConnor, Necas, Point, Konecny, SJarvis, Cozenz, Morrissey, Bouchard, Josi, Novak, Tolvanen, Peterka, Brink

    G- Vasilevskiy, Sorokin, Oettinger

Totally agree. He's likely a 2 seasons away from getting a real shot at a top 6 spot but once he's ready, he'll grab it and run. I liken him to an Arvidsson type player - non-stop engine.
