Default NHL History Draft - For Fun

    Hello all,

I know we are all bored... how about this...

Let's do an all time NHL (and WHA) draft and by this I mean drafting players from all era's to see how everyone ranks players from across eras.

I know it is impossible to actually have any sort of competition to compare who has the best team... but its just for fun.

We will determine rosters based on interest!

And we can have a Dobber community vote to see who complied the 'best' team.

Count me in. Even though there's no way to keep track, I'm pretty sure my team will somehow be at the bottom of the standings.

Writer of the weekly Top 10 column.

12-team Keeper pool, straight points for forwards & dmen. Goalies get: 2 points per win, 3 per shutout, 1 point per assist & 1 point per shootout loss.

    League champ in 2013, 2015, 2018, 2020 and 2022.

Top 8 forwards, 5 dmen and 2 goalies count.

We keep 15 players (any position) plus two rookies.

Forwards: Panarin, Ovechkin, Kopitar, Stamkos, Tuch, Rust, Marchessault, Pavelski, Miller, Bertuzzi, Stone, Kakko, Brown, Stankoven, Kovalenko
Defence: Hedman, Fox, Matheson, Thrun, Jiricek
Goalies: Kochetkov, Talbot, Vasilevskiy, Campbell, Schmid

Anyone else want the chance to draft Wayne Gretzky?

It could be the biggest draft lottery of the spring!

Scoring Categories.. only need to be considered if there was some way to keep track. If anyone knows of a way to keep track... then we will defintiely put scoring categories in place.

And LW, RW, C, D and G for positions.

this will be based on how much interest we get. If it is just the five signed up so far... then we will go with 26 rounds..

But lets not think this is all on my decision... there is no timeline for when this has to be done.... so we can democratically come up with how we as a group want to do it.

Do we want to draft just the top 100 players... or do we want to stretch it out and draft the top 200 players?

Do we want to draft for each position or just forwards, D and goalie?

    Lets do this:

    1) see who wants to sign up and get people signed up.

    2) Once we have a group signed up... iron out the details together.

    3) Draft and enjoy the process.

    4) Make a post and let people vote on the best team (Unless someone has another way of determining a winner)

Personally I would like it F D G as opposed to C LW RW. I don't wanna reach on LWs when a ton of of the all time greats played C...plus there could be issues deciding on positional eligibility. There could be disagreement on whether a guy should be eligible for a wing spot...etc etc, Id rather just be focused on picking the greatest F D and G of all time!

I would like it to be a longer draft. I know this will make it harder but I think we're up to the challenge. There are many greats which some of us might not be too familiar with, but we will know their names better by the time we're done this.
